Used cooking oil is used by a lot of people in the poor areas in Asia... do they have a choice?

Beats not scooting I'm sure...may actually be better than what we're using.

VERY interesting read. Thanks for sharing this!
I like his remark about scoots doing 7000rpm at 35mph --- which is why I decided I did not need to take my scoot on the highway to "blow it out" after poking around town for several weeks.  Yeah, the goofy thing can turn 4500 rpm in a WalMart parking lot trumble. And the part about the importance of yanking that oil out of there at freq. intervals......whatever kind of oil you're using: change it frequently. (me and the scoot are a quarter ton on that less-than-a-quart of oil!.....not counting my tool department under the seat)

Thanks Stig...I found the frequent change concept the most poignant as well.  By the way, your postings on this forum are very very informative.  I've learned much from your missives.
