The following video shows some horrific crashes, most of which INMO could have been avoided by the rider simply being more aware and adjusting his speed/lane position and anticipating traffic. Nonetheless I think every member of this board should watch this.

Most of the videos were the cagers fault but we all still need to drive defensively assuming they are going to do something stupid like that. You can not assume the cagers see you and are going to yield to you because they won't. The only way to try to stay as safe as possible is to assume everyone is going to not see you and cut you off.

Very true.
Sunday evening I was out riding country roads, approaching a curve. I could see a loaded flatbed approaching curve from the opposite direction, on a slight downhill. Now I had two choices: proceed and assume the truck driver would maintain control and stay in his lane around the curve, or slow so that I could time entering the curve after the truck had cleared. I chose option #2 and lived, as the truck went wide. You should've seen the look on that driver's face when he finally saw me.

no doubt I ride differently then when I drive.
If I'm on a 2 lane each direction road and a car is merging into traffic and I'm driving I put the responsibility on his shoulders to remain in his lane and not come wide into mine, if he does he's at fault. (I am always prepared to swerve).
However if I'm on my scoot and I see someone about to merge, I'm flashing my lights, slowing down and moving to the outside of my lane to make sure I don't get hit.

I'm sure all bikers are aware of the dangers out there... but sometimes "fun" and "stupidity" steals away these awareness... I'm guilty of this and had my share of near crashes... and only when I reach my destination I realized that ... man, that was a stupid thing to do...
I've tried riding under the influence...and I tell you, I will not do it again...

I guarantee you that when I was 16 I was blissfully unaware of anything without boobs.

And awareness of anything WITH boobs only served to increase the stupidity factor, not diminish it. Ah, what it was to be young, horny and invincible.... How any of us survive to adulthood is a miracle.

Don't filter on the left or right of a car ahead....stay behind in line. Wait your turn. Be patient. Slow down.
A scooter rider cannot control the people pulling out on him, or turning in front of him, or changing lanes into him - but darn near everything else I've seen in these 2 wheeled crash videos is the 2 wheeler's fault.
Brain dead, death wish, fogging out and forgetting where you're at when you cross a major intersection at speed without looking?? What are they thinking?! Glad they are not in a car - or they might be taking out a whole family.
