Title: FUEL FLASHING WHEN CLOSE TO EMPTY
Post by: feebleknievel on September 28, 2013, 04:52:46 AM
when the fuel starts flashing how many miles can you go before you run out ,does it quit flashing at any point in time before you run out just curious

I think nobody really got to that point... But you can experiment in another way....  Fill-up the tank, now use your scoot normally.... when the light flashes, fill the tank again... then you can compute...
Subtract the amount you just put in from the total tank capacity... the difference is the total amount of fuel/level when the light started to flash... Knowing your fuel consumption, you can now compute how many miles you can go before gas runs out...

In my scoot, when I fill up when the gauge goes to the empty (red) band... I only fill 2 liters... that means I still have 4 liters when the gauge reads empty (tank capacity is 6 liters)... With my fuel consumption of around 50 kms/liter...  I can still travel 200 kms. before gas runs out...

on a downtown if you are at 330 km. and you fill up,  you should take about 12 liters, depending how fast you ride,.  and not be in stop and go traffic,.  fillup is 12.5 liters

First you need to figure out how many mpg or kpl you get then go from there.

When my trip odometer would how 180-185, I would fill up.  But now from my experience, I know that I can get approx 200-210 miles per tank and that I average 65-68 mpg.  I know, I know that I am not as efficient as some of the other guys here. But I do drive most of the time on highways or on roads that the speed limit 45 or higher.  My Downtown is my work vehicle here in the Fort Worth-Dallas TX area.

A couple of weeks ago, I traveled 214 miles.  She was pretty much empty and I put in 3.04 gallons into her.

Not very far! Trust me on this, you may have 5 miles depending on how heavy you are, the traffic, the weather, etc. WHen mine starts to flash I immediately pull over for gas.

I've computed how far I can get on a tank of gas before the light starts flashing and always know where and when I'll need gas. They're not hard to push but it's no fun!
