Title: Got hit today
Post by: blue on September 18, 2013, 12:12:53 AM
was makeing a left hand turn on to a 2 lane rd I had the right to go but the lady in the 2 lane decided to cross over a lane. And by the time she got up on me the front tire hit her back tire.It hit so hard it made her tire go flat left a nice size cut in her tire. my scoot is driveable but I had to replace the front axel. someting is bent because the scoot rides a little off and the stearing is not the best.Im thinking eather the front shocks got bent or the trible tree.

You get hurt? Did she get a ticket? Are you starting to feel a pain in your back and should go see Saul Goodman?

Hope you're OK
You can never be too careful.  Did you file a police report? If there's something really wrong with your scoot take to a mechanic and get a estimate and try and go after this woman for the repair.

Im ok and we tryed to work things out with out the police but she wanted to call so that saved me from payin a penny. Because michigan has a no falt law that if a car hits us there on there own unless its over 500.00 dollars. So I have fix mine and she will fix hers. no ticket given.

Who says your fine without seeing a doctor. You can still sue in a no fault state.  Any chiropractic and lingering mental issues that may keep you from riding without fear can stick with you for many years. All of those treatments plus any lingering side effects could deserve compensation even if she didn't get a ticket but was found at fault.  You would then be able to ad the cost of the scooter repairs into the bill.

I always anticipate any vehicle that may tend to swerve right or left... buses, taxis, ol' ladies, etc.  And, unless your car has a blind spot mirror, you can's see sh** if there's a scoot at your side... same spot where blue was at...

I was on a six lane freeway Sunday, in the rain but boy am I smart I was driving the minivan. ;)  Lane four, following an suv towing a trailer with six canoes and a kayak, I was looking at the kayak thinking to myself what damage would occur to my vehicle if that kayak came off... and it did.  I glanced over my right shoulder then in passenger mirror before swerving around it.  Dammit I shouldn't have had to do that I think I had the right of way...

...and the driver may have been looking at the pretty rainbow and not thinking about scooters...  not picking on you, blue, just hoping to get a point across to some noobs and not-so-noobs...  not getting squashed is a good thing.   :)

That's one way to ruin your day. Good to hear you're okay. Hopefully your scooter will recover to like new.

blue - hope you get to feeling better soon .
Miserable luck!
Sorry about your scoot, and the damage to your body!

I'm still trying to make contact with the person down the street who was involved in a hit & run several weeks ago. His pretty red LIKE 200i is still parked next to his car - all busted up, 2300 miles on it. Not being nosy - just one scooter person to another saying hope you're OK.
And, strange, the neighbor couple a few doors down have not been seen on their red & black LIKE 200i's in weeks. Hope all is well there, too.
Take care - we're thinking about you, blue!

I would think a new(er) scoot would cost your more than $500 and a new tire would cost her less than $500.  Submit a claim to her insurance and see what happens.
