The main things would be stabilizing the fuel and keeping the battery up. I would suggest refueling from a container that has the proper amount of fuel stabilizer mixed in, and run enough fuel through that all the fuel in the system is treated fuel.

A good battery tender will keep your battery alive through the winter, and is even handy to use year around with the pigtail that stays on the scooter. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1378675144&sr=1-1&keywords=battery+tender (http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1378675144&sr=1-1&keywords=battery+tender)
I plug mine in when I put it away every night.
These are just general points, and there may be more to consider depending on the scooter, but these will be a good starting place.
