Can someone send a link for the proper gear oil? The owners manual says 180ml Of SAE 90 gear oil. The old owner im willing to bet hasnt changed it yet and I have been lazy with it but now is the time.

I have used Walmart Super Tech synthetic gear oil, straight dino 75-140 weight gear oil and now have Amsoil 75/90 weight oil in my DT300i. Any auto differential gear oil will do fine. My weight numbers may be wrong but auto gear oil of any kind will work well.

Well said CROSSBOLT, just want to add NOT to use any kind of HYPOID oil, API GL 4/5, they might demage your oilseals.

Well said CROSSBOLT, just want to add NOT to use any kind of HYPOID oil, API GL 4/5, they might demage your oilseals.
No Hypoid oil that is a GL4 or GL5? Or no hypoid oils, and no GL4 or GL5 oils?

No hypoid oil at all for this kind of gear and gaskets.
Take the easiest available, most economic synthetic gear oil you can get. 70-90 or 90-140 whatever your local shop offers for a reasonable price.
Even if you put ATF (this red or amber soup which you splash your cars auto gear with) in this simple KYMCO gear, it will stand it and will not wear out.

Ruffus, I am under the impression that all gear oil in the 75W-90, 80W-90, etc. range is for hypoid gears? Apparently that is not correct? I know you’ve mentioned staying away from hypoid gear oil before.

@hawk, to go a little bit deeper into materia:
-yes, you can use all kind / ranges of gear oil on a hypoid-palloid gear, means you would NOT demage anything in this specific shaped (diagonal / curved instead of straight) sprockets
See cardanic drivesshafts on BMWs, YAMAHAs or MOTO GUZZIs end gear.
Hypoid oil has a certain amount of metal solving content (solves in micron quantities or less) to , humbly said, roughen sprockets surface to enlarge lubricated areas, therefor better performance and less mechanical noise. But flipside is roughing driveshafts too which run through oilseals.
For this there are specified oilseals mounted (mostly two-lipped).
In our case we do have straight gear sprockets where this treatment would NOT make sense for several reasons, so we have normal oilseals which might not take additional wear from "rough" shafts.
