Kymco USA
« on: April 18, 2019, 06:54:27 PM »
I think I have discovered something disturbing at Kymco USA. Their contact number 864 327 4744 goes to an answering service! Vivian, the lady in HR, 327 4809, is not able to answer the phone and it goes to voicemail. I wonder if anyone is home?

I eventually made phone contact with a KymcoUSA customer representative by starting with an email to them ("contact" via their website)

Not long ago I spoke by phone with KymcoUSA regarding the loss of supplier partsmonster.

It is past 5 pm CDT (1700 for us mil-spec people...) and folks EDT have failed to call back. Locals in CDT have not returned my calls. My contact at a local dealer said he would get right back....

I went to my local full line powersports dealer (who carries both Kymco and Kawasaki) to order a part for both of my bikes on Thursday. When I said to the parts guy that I needed to order a part for a Kymco he paused...I got nervous for a second and asked him if he could still order parts for a Kymco..he said yes, he could, and they were rarely ever backordered on a part.

Safe for now..

Not too worried about parts yet. Reg-rectifiers at Amazon and flea-bay, stators can be rewound in Hungary.....I ain't skeered!

Is there real concern here that Kymco will stop selling products in the US?

They will say "everything is fine. Nothing to see here".
From what i understand, they had a shake up in their offices. They spent the money to bring over the 400i, then dropped it after a year, even going so far as to remove the owners manual from their website. Removed any trace of it.. Why have so many dealers dropped them? I do not have a lot of confidence with them at the moment..

There was recently a big turnover of people at Kymco USA.  They do seem a bit disorganized.  My Like 150i ended up being in the shop for nearly 2 months due to an ABS issue.  The reason it took so long is because the shop got no help from Kymco USA.  Hopefully as the new people at Kymco USA figure out their jobs things will get better.

A bit off-topic - but we experience a similar situation in our country. Our situation might even be worse.

When I tried to contact the official part suppliers just more than two months ago, I had to follow some leads - which eventually  guided me to the reagional Suzuki distributors in our area. The guy at the local Suzuki distributors told me "all Kymco parts have been send to us - from now on you will only be able to get all parts from us".

Suzuki also sells scooters in our country, and I think the latest development can only have one of two results:

1. They might be trying to squeese the last breath from Kymco in our country.

2. They might be trying to get access to a cheaper scooter market - to supplement their existing offer to the local market.

Whatever the case - I prefer to get suitable parts from whoever is prepared to sell parts at the best prices.

Life is a journey. Just spend some time, and enjoy the trip.

There seems to be a real shortage of some pretty basic factory parts like belts and brake pads for some of the bigger models.
Been riding for a very long time.
