I agree. When I tried to use front brake, Cramp Buster caused me to roll the throttle and speed up. There was a stopped car in front of me. I wasn't  even using it at the time. It is difficult to squeeze the brake and roll off the throttle at the same time because you have to squeeze the handgrip as you brake and this causes the Cramp Buster to increase the throttle speed.

I carry a roll of black electrician's tape in the "glove compartment" with my garage door opener. If riding at night, it takes just a minute to peel off a couple of strips to put across the top of the light. I take them off when I get home without any problem. I was leaving them on, but they don't like the heat. It's much easier just to put them on and take them off every time. Don't ride that much in the dark anyway.

I know a dealer that has a customer's full face helmet on display. It has a large groove down the faceshield. The owner t-boned at 50 mph a car that pulled out in front of him. He slid under car and would have lost the front of his face without a shield. I still wear a 3/4 around our small town, but if I'm going to ride over 45 or so, it's the full helmet for me. Only problem is I can't wear my glasses. It's OK because I can still see, but would appreciate knowing what brand(s) you guys with glasses are wearing. Thanks.

PS  I am in Sweden and Norway the next couple weeks. So far I have seen more scooters than motorcycles and NO Harleys.

Are you a dealer? I stopped at Columbia ( I think that's the name) on MLK last fall and bought the chrome trim (Stig calls is a "crashbar" , but I think he's a bit optimistic. Didn't see any 300's then, but wasn't really looking at that time. Back to you the first part of July.

Yep Stig - so far as I am concerned you win the (booby) prize. My first service at about 500 miles cost me a little over $20 for parts - the labor was courtesy my dealer. Original plug replaced at about 1500 miles (second service) and then because the porcelain was starting to crack. Still on the second plug and going strong. Dealer has done literally all the service work. Bought mine about same time as you and have about same mileage. I now have a total of about $350 for service in the past year. If I would have done it would have cost at least twice as much to undo what I did. You know the old shop sign.. Labor $25 an hour. $50 an hour if you watch. $75 an hour if you worked on it first. I figure I have saved hundreds by having the shop do the work
I tend to ride a bit faster than you. My scoot just sings at 55-60 mph and I frequently run it WOT for several miles on my weekend rides. No doubt yours will last longer, but I hope to get a People 300 in the near future anyway. Am having a hard time talking my dealer into getting one for me to test ride. He thinks I should buy it first before he orders one. They seem to be pretty scarce here in the Northwest. Hopefully this summer.
Keep up the good work on your posts Stig. I enjoy them all.

 Worn rollers / drive bosses / ramp plate guide bushings will often give the same shudder but that is usually accompanied by rattling noises, and/or a defined "clunk" on acceleration/de acceleration.

Zombie -Thanks for the tip(s). No rattles or clunks yet other than my old bones going over rough roads. Wish the Like had a little better suspension.

Haarek - thanks for bringing this up and Zombie - thanks for the answer. I noticed my Like 200i starting to shudder after about 4,000 miles. May have done it sooner, but that's when I started noticing it. Happens only on starting off and quits at about 10 mph. Goes away when I get on the throttle a bit more. Mentioned it to my mechanic. He said was probably the clutch and not to worry about it unless got worse. Was a common thing with scooters. And Zombie, what you say is correct. A little more throttle and it doesn't happen. But I'm still going to have the mechanic look at it when I go in for 6,000 mile oil change soon. This is way beyond my wrenching skills which stop with checking the oil every once in a while.

Go to mredsmoto.com. He rebuilt the seat on my Like 200 for $200 and the only time I need to get off now is to refill it. The seat is gorgeous! I tried to send some pix to Stig some time ago but couldn't figure out how. He gave me instructions and I will try again. Mr. Ed moved the ridge across the seat back a couple of inches, installed memory foam and resewed a new cover without a wrinkle. Give him a call. He's a great guy even if he does ride a great big Beemer to work every day.

"Fuel Recommendation
Use unleaded gasoline with a research octane number of 91 or higher. Unleaded gasoline will extend spark plug life."
(No mention of ethanol one way or the other.)

Is still legal in other states to ride a modifed 50cc that can exceed 35 mph without an endorsement? Oregon also restricts the max top speed which I think would make most of the modifed 50's technically illegal.
