What oil for gearboxes
« on: March 16, 2016, 02:06:52 AM »
I've heard that the factory oil in the gearboxes isn't really very good. What are you mechanically minded owners changing it over to?

I like it too!

I am assuming you are referring to the differential gears?  On my side by side I replaced the factory gear lube with full synthetic 75-140 gear oil. Most differential gear cases require an 80-90wt gear oil. By using a full synthetic gear oil you can use a broader weight lube as the syn products do not get thick in the cold like conventional dino oil does but they still control wear like a thicker oil does and even better under severe conditions.
