Rider IN the storm?!?!
« on: August 09, 2022, 09:14:13 PM »
So, I was riding home last night and trying to beat the oncoming storm.

Long story short, I didn't make it.  :P

Rolled up to the condo like a drowned rat.

Soaked to the skin, I quickly grabbed my scooter cover and threw it over the drenched bike.

No garage or covered parking..... UGH!

I went out later and dried off the seat and platform.

Shook the water off the cover and replaced it.

It started fine this morning.

So, my question to the masses is, exactly how waterproof are our Kymco scooters??

Make with the opinions! :)

They come rain proof from the Kymco factories in Asia....where it rains a bit.🙃
Throw a cover in the worst rain....but let air get to it so it can dry.
Anyway, photos of your rain ride?
We have a saying here, "no photos? - it didn't happen."
(Yeah...tough bunch here.)
Glad you made it safely.

What is that...almost looks like salt coming out of the road?

I'm not sure. It's frothy like soap. But, not really slippery.

We get that here in the UK too, it’s like a froth that forms a little like the spume on ocean waves? I put it down to remnants of the salt spread on the roads in winter?

Looked to be a rough ride home Arjan, as Stig says, glad you made it safely. As for Kymco water resistance, mine has been drenched a few times now.  It ran like a Swiss watch in the downpour and suffered no after effects!  In fact, it’s weathered it’s 2 UK winters far better than my corroded Honda PCX 125 did!

I have gotten water seepage into the headlight area somehow.  It would not drain out until I drilled a small hole up from the bottom.  A couple of the little LEDs quit working but it has stayed dry.

Nice blue skies Arjan! Glad to say my ride yesterday was completed just before the storm and it’s much needed rain struck here.
