Kymco People 150 vs 200S in motor cc Size Discrepancy??
« on: February 28, 2019, 06:59:51 PM »
Hi All' scooterScotty again;

Why in Heck!!! do the scooter motor-Specs on the www.net show that the kymco People 150 (151cc) (57.4 x 57.8mm) is larger displacement than 200S (163cc) (52.4 x 57.8mm) ?? BorexStroke??=Volume using spec. equation.

correct Math should say 57.4 x 57.8 Larger than 52.4 x 57.8 !!! ???????

It must be a typo but I have seen it/weird motor Specs at other sites also???

What i do love is that the Strokes are same 57.8, so maybe i can use this bigger cylinder and piston???

I want a Big-bore- direct-easy drop on bolt-on Kit for my 150 people. but If none exists?? i think that maybe since crank/Strokes are same length 57.8mm, then I can at least go 11cc bigger by using the 200 replacement cylinder?? 151cc VS 163cc. not a huge gain but may as well go 11 if available-if it fits...+ if the 163cc 200 cyl Head also has Bigger Valves??, then i will also get Bigger Valves along with 11cc!!, if i use the 200 cyl head as well... this should definitely gain a lil mor Power over my stock 152cc People 150.

Note: Mine is older model 2006 People 150 2-valve Head,  mine NOT newer (2017 on??) 4-Valve Head 150S.

Welcome to the Kymco worls of garbled specifications. Their engineers are brilliant and their manufacturing rivals the best but their publications are, ahh...questionable.

The specs are for the 125, not the 200. Pretty much any air cooled kymco with that stroke can take any of the three pistons. It starts at 150, which is a pretty square setup. Then, they make it smaller because some countries have laws that make it a lot easier to get a 125 on the road, and it's easier to change the cylinder than the crank. Then, because every company is doing it, they decide to make it bigger. The size the factory goes to is usually the largest you can safely go to and/or the size you can go to without boring the cases, etc.,  and still have as good a scooter, with a factory warranty, as you had at the beginning.
