Super 9 / Re: Tuning new Super 9 AC?
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:23:39 AM »
I just bought a Super 9 AC, and love the little machine, but I am dissatisfied with it's top speed of around 35mph...

I'm wondering what I need to get this puppy to do an easy 50, and where I can get it. My brief research suggests I need a new exhaust, which I found here; http://www.sip-scootershop.com/pages/index.php?PORTAL=Froogle&COUNTRY=US&ID=21012&PORTALID=0&EXPLODIM=px&_requested_page=%2Fpages%2Fdetails.php

Is there anything else I need? And are there any U.S. based dealers for this stuff?

Thanks!

Don't go for the Leo Vince...they're crap! Get a Technigas pipe!

The best place for Super 9 parts in the U.S. is Moped Hospital in Key West.

Super 9 / Re: Video on How to Change Weight Rollers
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:19:26 AM »
What exactly does changing the weight rollers do for the scooter performance wise?

Having the right weight rollers will affect the smoothness of acceleration through the range. Choosing the right rollers will depend on your body weight, the altitude where you are riding and any other mods that you've done to your scoot. It's a case of experimenting until everything is just right. If acceleration bogs around 30mph, that's a sure sign that you need to adjust the roller weight.

Also, the rollers wear over time and develop flat spots. This will affect your performance more and more. So, it's always a good idea to check them fairly regularly.

George,

I'm sorry if the truth offends you. Many people do not realize that what appears to be the engine on a Venox is not. I was fooled until I saw it mentioned in a magazine article.

I'm sorry, I know your 'old' but this was a pretty dumb comment and I'm not even a Venox rider. What do you mean 'what appears to be the engine on a Venox is not'? Faux fins regardless, of course the engine is the ENGINE!! How do you think it moves, pedal power!?

I hate the whole 'trying to look like a Harley' thing, too. Why is that? Are Harley the only company allowed to build cruisers?

Besides, a friend of mine bought a brand new Harley Softail in January. Quite apart from the fact that it was ridiculously over-priced, it's been back to the garage for repairs 4 times in less than 5 months. He's had numerous electrical problems, the speedometer has been replaced twice, it's had over-heating problems, loss of power when hot, and the choke had to be replaced after a month. All in all, I think it's only been on the road about one month out of five!! He's none too happy at the moment!

I have to say, if the Venox ever comes to Japan, it will definitely be my next bike. I love what ObxBiker has done to his Venox, amazing job! If we don't get the Venox over here I'll probably go for the Magna 250 that the Venox was based on. But there are a few little things that I prefer about the Venox...I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Thought you guys might be interested in what people are doing to their Agility's over here:

This guy exhibited his scooter at the Tokyo Motor Show...

He's installed a stainless steel Blade Evolution pipe. I'm going to get the 70cc version for my Super 9...

The wavy disc brakes are nice, too...

Digital meter...

High windshield, a simple mod that will probably give 3-5mph extra...

Well, I don't have any first hand experience of that company but bear in mind that their scooters are all imported from mainland China. Even if the build quality is better than most of the Chinese scooters I'd be concerned about parts further down the line.

Kymco stock their parts in the countries where they sell their scooters. Whenever I've ordered a Kymco part it has always arrived the next day. Plus, if you keep your scooter stock, and don't do any radical mods, Kymco engines are pretty much bullet-proof.

I'd go Kymco if I were you!

Hey Kurt,

What exhaust did you get? And what weight rollers did you use? Is your S9 liquid-cooled or air-cooled?

Some (fairly) easy mods you could do would be to install a Malossi variator and, if you have a lot of hills in your area, a Malossi torque drive.

Are you in the UK? I'm not sure what the laws are these days (I've been out of the country for the past ten years!) but later on you might want to install a 72cc big bore kit, bigger carb, and air filter.

Super 9 / Re: De-restricting my Super 9 AC
« on: May 10, 2008, 01:13:51 AM »
hey all, im looking at derestricitng my super 9 AC moped. Does any1 know what i wuld need to do to it to get a speed of around 65mph or close to it?

The LC models will get to 65mph by installing an 72cc big bore kit, performance pipe, bigger carb, new variator, Arreche air filter and few other bits and bobs, but your AC model will be a bit slower.

Simply de-restricting your scoot will get you about 46mph, true speed, although the meter will indicate a higher speed because it's out by about 10%.

Excellent video...except he's changing the weight rollers, not the clutch springs!

Hey 2hd, good idea.  I changed it to "Super 9".  Thanks for the input.

Where are you at in Asia?

I'm in Japan, and I've had my S9 since January this year.

Thanks for changing the title!

Hey, what about L/C 2T?

Contrary to popular opinion, Kymco do still make them. I know they're not sold in the U.S. anymore but we still have them here in Asia.

Maybe this section of the forum should be for Super 9s in general, rather than limiting it to A/C. Just a thought...
