Title: Bendix
Post by: jesseg010 on June 13, 2017, 07:43:55 PM
Bike was running fine last season. Now the bendix seams to not turn the flywheel. Any idea?

Yup got it.
On the charger now.
It does seem like there isn't enough power there.
But I don't know I've never had this trouble before.

Hmm all seems like it's hard to turn over even with enough cranking amps? I can hear it engaging and trying to turn the flywheel but doesn't

If you can, do the test Tortoise recommended. More than likely your battery is bad.

There's 2 types of bendix assemblies, one which works and the other which doesn't (sounds like a dead battery).  The one which works has a tiny thrust bearing at the small end (which fits the hole in the cover).  Both units have the same dimensions. There's not a lot of information on this part, and I figured it out by accident.  Still not sure who makes the good units vs who makes the duff units. From a foot away, they look identical, but they're not.
