When I was just starting out...I answered an advert to join a Scooter Safety Class for novice riders. I sent in my $28 and showed up for my 8hr class at the city park.
Here is the graduation photo of all who passed the class. (30% failure rate!)

Two of the women were apparently ex-military (swore like Sailers!) - but they all were a pretty fun group.
(sorry if I don't look quite like you'd come to expect...the guy in the black T-shirt was hitting on me all day )

Do not know where these sources are coming from?

I had one of those scoots in my service truck! Used it in big warehouses. Got thown out of a factory by a "safety officer" once!

Those things are unsafe at any speed.

No helmets! Shameless risk takers!

Great pic, Stig. Looks like everyone was in a good mood. Who failed the class? According to my poor math skills, 30% would be 3-4 people.

You can always count on me, Holmon.

If you dropped the bike even once, or stalled a take-off more than 15 times you were dropped from the class. Those folks were long gone on the bus before the grad. picture was taken.
