Not getting any spark  what would you suggest trying?
It would require some initiative on your part . . but reviewing previous related discussions in this forum category may help.

If you have already checked that the right-grip switch is in run position, and spark plug boot is not deficient, reference a wiring diagram and verify voltage into the CDI?

have never found any bits in the oil strainer
Just a reminder that the screen strains the oil pump inlet flow, so any particles should collect on the exterior surface.  Anything on the inside ended up there when the strainer dropped down into the oil draining outflow.

That's almost equal to a cross-country.

Frequently read about some element of the exhaust system failing due to vibration and heat-stress . . on scooters in general.

What is your engine oil preference?  Did you run any additives such as Lucas Fuel Treatment?

if I wait 15 minutes, it'll start back up and I can drive it home, I've replaced the cdi and the ignition coil, it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Big bore kits offer more torque for hills and headwinds, but the drive pulley ratio remains the same relative to crankshaft revolutions . . unless rear gears are changed.

Unbalanced rotational dynamics also enhance the odds of crankshaft and connecting rod bearing failure.  Pretty much a lose/lose situation!

For others researching . . initially select a scooter model with an engine size suitable for your speed expectations, and keep it stock!
