MXU / Re: Aftermarket exhaust for MXU 500 IRS?

Thanks for the link MotoRandy ...  Looks like a real nice, tune able muffler. They are out of stock however and it appears to be a "One size fits many" muffler. I see cutting and welding are needed. I was hoping for an exhaust system that would bolt right on my MXU 500. Thanks for the link though, I appreciate any help !

Well, I am not to familiar with that model but I would bet that the nuetral safety switch is not adjusted correctly. I would look for a switch somewhere along the shift linkage. The switch could be located by the transmission. It will probably be some sort of switch with 2 wires. It's purpose is to prevent starting in gear but allow it to start in nuetral. Just the opposite of what yours is doing. Hope this helps.

General Discussion / My Kymco Experience
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:11:55 PM »
Hello all ...  New to this forum and brand new to the Kymco machines. 2 months ago, while deciding on a little quad for my son, I decided on the Mongoose 90. In part because of the nice features found on the machine, my son sat comfortable and the promotional 1.9% financing. We brought it home and he rode all weekend. So much so that Dad had to have one too.  :) I went back to our local dealer on Monday and bought a Kymco MXU 500 IRS for myself. My wife and I brought the machine up to the Adirondack mountains this past weekend for the 10th annual SNIRT run. I have to say, We both were totally amazed at what this thing did. There were over 3,500 ATV's and UTV's there. We put on over 120 miles through the trails enduring overcast 35 degree temps, rain, snow and eventually, hail. I am very happy to say we never once got stuck despite A LOT of others getting stuck. In fact, We even stopped to pull out a brand new Suzuki Quadzilla 500. We didn't notice any other Kymco's out there, not that there wasn't, we just didn't notice any. We did however get a lot of looks and compliments. The thing that did it for me though was the large area of mud. It had to be 150 feet x 150 feet and at least 2 feet deep. I watched everyone ride the "edge" and some got stuck there. I looked at my wife and said, "what do you think"? She said, "Go for it". I locked in the 4 wheel drive, full throttle and off we went, right through the middle! About 10% of the way in, I thought to myself, I just screwed up. To my amazement, This quad wasn't going to quit. It bogged down but wouldn't stop. I maintained 5 - 8 mph through the mud just shaking my head. On the other side, we were greeted with what kind of machine is that and high 5's. Any way's, I just wanted to share our experience with everyone who didn't witness this and say, I am now a Kymco Fan !! I signed our son up for some racing this summer, AMA licenses on the way and now I'm off to figure out how to De-Regulate his 2013 Mongoose 90. (If anyone has any helpful information, Please help)
  Signed, Excited in N.Y.
