People 250 / Re: People 250 stalls when hot

Bad part is the stator (Pulsar coil).  This was isolated after 3 hrs by ace mechanic (Mobile Wrench). When bike was hot, spark was erratic. Discovered that even with faulty stator the bike would go indefinitely ?? (i.e., no dying) if the lower met box cover was removed (cooling the faulty part better). Bummer is parts & labor here will be another $365..
Thanks everyone for your help.

An update: Still no luck fixing the delayed stalling problem.
Replaced the bystarter, coil, spark plug, air filter, cleaned the idle jets in the carb. No luck. Tried premium gas, riding w/ the gas cap off... no luck.
Next we are replacing the float bowl.
Frustrating in that after 6 miles riding, the bike will stall out - sometimes at the same street corner! After sitting 5 minutes, it starts right up.  Weather isn't a factor.
I haven't heard the fan run in this year.  Could this be a problem?

People 250 / Trouble-free People 250, 39,000 km
« on: November 17, 2016, 04:45:17 PM »
The most reliable vehicle I've ever owned is my People 250, 2007.  It has 39 k km, city driving.  The only unplanned maintenance has been to replace a coolant hose. Still running on the original belt. It's only had one tune up & spark-plug replacement (around 15k km).  About the only rare time it gets flaky is after parking it in the hot sun (gas vapor lockup?)  I do synth oil changes about 3 k km. All the other work has been the minimal maintenance (replacing tires, air filters, gear oil once). I use 85 octane gas.
