General Discussion / I may have to sell my scoot (People's 200)
« on: October 01, 2015, 08:36:04 PM »
Well everyone, you've noticed I've been absent from these pages much of the past year. The reason why is that I have been unable to ride. I underwent back surgery several months ago and while I'm "healed" and back to work I have this suspision my back won't be able to take the mean streets on a scooter.

I've not given up completely just yet, will wait until spring when my operation is a full year in the rear view mirror. But am looking if anyone would want to buy mine when the time comes. It's got some damage I never fixed when someone knocked it over while parked, then tried to stand her up and it fell over on the other side. When I go to her my signals were broken (switch) part of the body panel in front is cracked, the horn button no longer works also. Other then that she starts and rides fine, last check she's got a bit over 2K on the clock, she's a 2009 red model. Comes with a full wind shield and a carry bag I have mounted on the rear.

If anyone has an idea of what I should ask for a bike in this condition don't hesitate in speaking up. PS the scoot is 163 CC and tops out at 57 MPH via GPS.

Thanks

Do any of you have the little weights around your rims like on cars? I was noticing I don't have any on either one of my scooter tires/rims.

General Discussion / Battery commentary
« on: April 26, 2015, 11:30:36 PM »
I don't know the brand of battery but the one I placed I my scoot about 2 years ago seems to recover amazingly well. I haven't been able to ride since December and with winter being a particularly bad this year I couldn't even get to the scoot to give her a tickle charge. Needless to say after sitting a couple of months the battery was dead.

I finally got to the scoot and put her on a tickle charge for a couple of days, when I hit the start button she turned over and started like a champ. After disconnecting her I've been hitting the start button every couple of days now and she is still turning over. I thought for sure she would not hold a charge but she seems to be doing quite well.

If all goes well I'll be riding again come mod summer.

It's been a few months or at least it feels tat way since I've posted here. I see the usual cast of characters are still posting away wit the exception of Vivo and Carol, I hope we see them again one day soon. I know Carol might be stuck with a cage during this long winter but Vivo has no excuse (I'm sure he does".

Well as for me I might be able to post up a bit more now, hope you all are well and still scooting along.

Takes a minute to get down the swing, but if you need to get rid of some stress, go for the fences.

And before the PETA people bang me, it's just a comic thing that's fun, don't take life too seriously, I don't run over cats or eat dogs.

General Discussion / A goast story worth passing on.

I barrowed this from another forum, enjoy. Zombie is this you?

This should cheer you up on a cool day !

This story happened a while ago in Dublin , and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's true.

John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a big storm.

The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him.

Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped.

John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into the car and closed the door.... Only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on.

The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared out of nowhere through the window, and turned the wheel. John, paralyzed with terror, watched as the hand came through the window, but never touched or harmed him.

Shortly thereafter, John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road, so, gathering strength; he jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody about the horrible experience he had just had.

A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying... And wasn't drunk.

Suddenly, the door opened, and two other people walked in from the dark and stormy night.

They, like John, were also soaked and out of breath. Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other....

"Look Paddy....there's that idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it!!!!'

General Discussion / Gen set (off scoot topic)
« on: October 19, 2014, 06:49:47 PM »
Am thinking long and hard about buying a generator for our home, I have a small 1K watt unit now, which is good for a few lights a fan or TV type use, but if we had no power for more than a week I'd soon run out of gas and it won't run a fridge either.

So I'm thinking of getting something a bit larger 4-6K watts that runs on NG or tri fuel (NG, LP, gas).

NG gives you and endless supply of fuel where LP needs a refill as does gasoline and you can easily run out of both and so can stores.

My question is, I can get a NG gen set for $700 or a tri fuel unit (same output) for another $300, which should I go for?
