hi/low beams together?
« on: September 23, 2019, 02:10:05 PM »
When I flip my high beams on I lose the low beam but if I hold the "flipper" switch and turn on the high beams I get both high and low beams and it is much better at night. My question....is this the way it's supposed to be or do the low beams shut off when you turn on the highs?

First, this is the path to owner's manuals at Kymco.com

https://www.kymcousa.com/manuals/

Second, the printed manual (under the seat) of my 2018 Like 200i states:
  • the up position of the rocker switch turns the headlight high-beam on, and the high-beam indicator light on the dash is activated.
  • the down position of the rocker switch (middle) turns the headlight low-beam on.
  • the down (bottom most) is the passing light rocker switch - rapidly flicks the headlight high beam on and off to signal other vehicles that you wish to pass

You may have found an undocumented feature (or bug) on your scooter's headlight switch.

Yeah, holding down the flipper too long might just put you in total darkness - if you blow a fuse due to operating both filaments.

Pretty much every scooter can do that trick....for a few seconds.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I've tried holding down the 'pass' button for quite a while, exp the road back home when the street lights are down. Never had any fuse blown to be honest.  But I run LED bulbs on the low beams, maybe that helps reduce the current draw. I too have LED spots mounted, but the wiring is independent from the DT's headlights.
