LIKE 200i / Re: When to stop fueling the tank
« on: May 22, 2014, 06:10:31 PM »
The gas station pumps always shut off about an inch below the bar. On my fuel gauge, this shows only 3/4 tank. Is it considered "in the neck of the tank" above that bar? Typically shuts off after a half gallon or so when it started at below quarter tank. It looks like another quart or two could fit in there.

Arrived at the destination, the Planes of Fame Museum at Chino Airport in Chino, CA.

I rode with the Long Beach Scooter Club for the first time this weekend. It was a small group. There were only 9 riders on this trip, but It was a great way to get my feet wet. It was a great ride through Carbon Canyon.  It was a total of 85 miles, round trip.
During the ride, my Like reached the 1000 mile mark. It took 10 weeks of recreational riding to get there. The bike is running smoother every week.

You can see my seat modification in the picture. LOL.

I was serious. Who don't like a hot girl pic (done tastefully of course) with a bike. That's why they are out there. There's a need, LOL. I'm by a college town and the girls are a plenty. Maybe I get my son (22yrs old) to ask, rather than me (the old man at 47). If you're gonna have pics of girls on scoots . . . . . then why not have her on your scoot.
Approaching a random girl at my age would just look creepy. LOL.

I know all about the apprehension of trying to a good picture. I have ridden around outside of the parking lot of Disneyland, trying to find the hole in the security to get the shot.

General Discussion / Re: Gloves

Taking a rock to the hand has been a concern. I have some S & S gloves. They are comfortable, but do not offer much protection for a hard impact. Those Mechanix gloves look like they would do the job. I was at the local Wal-Mart yesterday. They did not stock anything like that.

There's a lot of storage room underneath.

Technical | How To / Re: Valve adjustment German Scoot

I read that Kymco allows you to do your own maintenance without affecting the warranty. Would a valve adjustment fit into this category?  I can do it and have the tools. I am at the 600+ mile mark and am not sure if they would poo on me down the road.

I was thinking about that. I was only able to vote a few times. LOL.

I've been looking for some racing stripes for my blue and white toaster. I heard the stripes add 10 mph.
On any given day, the Kymco USA website is down and you can't even look at the accessory page. It took three days to get the part numbers for the crash bars.
Their standard reply to emails is "our website is having problems."

That's a nice windshield. The mirrors look like they have been moved outward. Do you get better visibility with the change?

General Discussion / Re: Do you take any crap for riding a Scooter?
« on: May 01, 2014, 12:28:33 AM »
Several guys at work drive Harley Davidson's and when I told them I was interested in a scooter, they had no idea what to think. I little jab here and there and then I played along and told them I'd put a sticker on it "Baby Harley". Then I thought better. Really though they've been pretty supportive that there is just another rider out there. Took at little ribbing today with the pic below. Believe me I hand out shovels full at times so getting it back is just part of having fun at work. I thought it was funny and it just shows the American perspective on scooters (of course not by everyone, we know that). Don't take it too serious cause the guy who sent it to me has offered to come over and ride with me and my Super 8 150 and him on his HD anytime I want.

That picture kills me every time I think about it. Funny stuff!

General Discussion / theft deterrent?
« on: April 30, 2014, 02:59:09 AM »
The other day, I rode my scooter to the grocery store and did some shopping. While I was in there, it occurred to me that my little scooter was all alone in the parking lot. The only protection was the steering lock to save her from being kidnapped. I live in a small suburb, surrounded by 10 million people within a 50 mile radius. It is entirely possible that a few of those people may be of dubious character.
What type of lock/chain/pit bull do people use for some sort of piece of mind? My ride is stored in my garage, so I am not worried about the night stalkers.

The black bolts with the 10mm heads will come in handy. They tend to roll away when you're not looking. The same goes for the black screws.

Deer, skunks, raccoons? My God!! I thought I had it rough dodging kids on skateboards. That video did remind me to always be aware of stupid.
