Downtown 300 / Re: How many Miles (KM) do you have on your scoot?

welcome...to the forum......doublesc...has it right...from first sentence to last.....i have a 2012,,dt.....no issues (except caught a nail in front tire which i plugged)....about 7000km..on it with three synthetic oil changes.....handles incredibly well in city and great touring ride as well

from past experience...i strongly rx......going for the 300....if you reside over the 1 yr requirement.....and of course if you can afford same...you will appreciate the extra power.....as  you probably imagine......i know of few enthusiasts...who buy down to lesser power/cc..... you should have no problem mastering the 200 and once you have....you will regret...not going for the 300 straight out of the gate......both bikes are quality....and should have a long shelf life if you do the basic maintenance....good luck

need to make a clear distinction between what engine is doing vrs. avt......when i first got my 300 and more use to motorcycles i felt that the rpm read out was  was moving far far out in front of odo read......but thats just the way it works ....if brand new the only thing i can tell you is get it back to dealer......though rare for brand new scooter....the ecu may need to be reflashed....and perhaps a sensor is not responding as it should...good luck....

racewalker.....i don't have any blown fuses....everything seems to be working..re electrical......but what i did do....was adjust the throttle just a tad...and did what you suggested...turned the key on and off and noticed each time i did this the pointers on the instrument panel got closer and closer to where they should be ...after about 4 trys got everything back to normal......than rode the scooter this am to check indicators ....under riding conditions.....everything is fine.....will continue to monitor...and thanks for your help.....

Downtown 300 / help with downtown 300 issue
« on: September 26, 2012, 12:41:14 AM »
i have a 2012 dt just over a year.....have had no major problem since i bought it...all maintenance done on schedule.....heres what is happening.....the speedometer reads like 50 when you are only doing say half of that....on idle the speedo shows about 20 mph....and correspondingly....the tach is way off as well when on start/idle it revs at 3900rpm...

if you just turn the key on (without starting) the pointer on the speedo is at 20 and the pointer on the tach is also at about 20.....so when riding the pointers are at higher levels than they should be so i am working at higher levels on speedo and tach....

believe electrical....i do charge with trickel charge as needed.....have noted the scooter will stall out at times if not warmed up....other than that power still there but not  reading the way it should......anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to what might be going on?

« on: August 31, 2012, 08:09:06 PM »
oldie...sorry to hear about your scoot......the trick on the dt anyway is to always park on level surface....when you pull the kick stand down and dismount....the side stand will creep forward a bit and mine will make another slight movement outward.....than (and before i get off the scooter) i pivot the handlebars and therefore the wheel to the left...a tad....the tendency to creep forward will always be there as i learned the hard way.....my scooter was three days old ...i had a slow leak...rear tire and i got off....in about 10 minutes the bike moved forward the kickstand was no longer planted on firm ground...

fortunately i was right there when it happened...and the bike fell on my lawn chair....i was very lucky....and sustained only a few very minor scratches...

like you searched for touch up ...my scooter is white....had to try a few colors....i finally got a match....with  a pearl white.....

touch up paint is out there only i believe dealers have access to it.....

keep trying.....dropping a bike is a right of passage.....few admit to it......but it is quite common......good luck.....

this is why i absolutely hate any thing microsoft;;;;the same scammers and hackers who create the problems are the very same ones selling you downloads to remove the problems.....i had a very similar registry error issue which would cause an image on my pc makeing it virtually impossible to use the computer...mine was an xp problem....you may try re-booting ......to a prior date (previous to when the problem emerged) or do what i did.....purchased "stopzilla"....which actually worked.....good luck....

this is very similar if not the same marketing piece i saw last summer just prior to my getting my 300i.......looks like they added some on screen english  subtitles and perhaps a few more technical....add-ons....more lightning etc....but essentially the same as whats been out there for while now....i must say they did an excellent job......for me the dt has been everything i anticipated and more....

i am an avid movie fan....all my life.....i must say this year is particularly disappointing......unless your interested in re-makes of movies done before much better....or are interested in nazi zombies and or more teenage vampire werewolves.....the whole industry is marketed to those under 30 and particularly under 20.....the use of uninspired and unimaginative technology.....and the loss of simple story telling with great acting ....is destroying what was once a great entertainment industry....with a few exceptions i.e tanantino....and perhaps paul thomas anderson (boogie nights and magnolia)......we have already seenmuch it if you know what i mean.......i do like christian bale....even in batman...but best in american psyco....the prestige and all the little animals......this guys versatility is incredible.....

looks good.....for me i simply have tied a ski hat (one with strings/tie)....to my right side black grip....made of wool....i use it to carry coffee and cold drinks.....it actually functions like a pouch.....upside down.....need to be careful with the coffee , however,.....need to use top with no slit in lid vrs...other type....which has slit in it for sipping.....whatever works.....

hey 08....a good compilation of useful information....esp for those of us entering the land of retirement.......the caveat to these is the phrase "at participating locations"....dd won,t do in my area....but cici does ...and so it goes....but no harm in asking......

zombie is 100 percent right.....but this gets into additional costs to the manufacturer and passed thru by dealer...etc....piaggio/vespa won't let you sell their scooters unless dealer or his agent/employee go through the training......the lesser known struggling brands have few requirements and are just looking to store inventory with any dealer who will take their scooters......

baddi has it right....also just about every operator manual i have seen........tells you to use the center stand...for safety reasons mentioned ...but when you start getting into 250cc and higher as the scooter becomes heavier and if you can't park on perfectly level ground....its a bit of a challenge to get it on the center stand....so i would bet many if not most rely on the side stand....more than they admit....

my 08 hyosung ms3-250....allows you to start and idle the scooter with the side stand down..(not so on my dt 300)..so you can actually get on and off the scooter without shutting it down......again there is a safety consideration......i don't believe the newer scooters allow you to do this anymore....so that side stand must be in up position to start the scooter....

when i hit 60 i started noticing......i was getting up 2 or three times a night.....long story short.....enlarged prostate....this led to doctor visits......and i am basically ok....take organic based products which helps some.....told me to stop drinking liquids and especially coffee after 10 pm....this helped.....but since i retired i am up all hours of the night......i only get about 6-7 of sleep.....and i am noticing i automatically get tired and cat nap for about an hour around 4 or 5 pm.....
