Just got my Power Pure front and rear sneakers for my Downtown, delivered from Bike Bandit (cheapest price),  yesterday. Still too much snow/calcium chloride/sand on roads to ride right now, but- looking forward to them !

I learned it on horseback. Not much reigning, more leg pressure/leaning (especially in Pole-bending and Barrel racing).

Had  five or so ice storms this season... now, snow comes. A foot 4 days ago... two foot BLIZZARD in progress, now, and potential for a foot or more Wed/Thurs.

Bluesin, I heard someone here mention someone's dad was ill, but I didn't know it was your dad. I said a prayer for however it was. Glad he is coming home and is feeling better.
Snorvey, you are too much. That joke isn't far from the truth. While describing a redneck, I forgot to mention, his mouth and beard are always full of tobacco juice. gross
We had a story going round at CHristmas about a redneck's wife nagging him to hang the lights on the house, then there was a picture of a tangled  ball of lights hung on the entrance to the carport. When he returned home that evening, she told him how much she appreciated him hanging the lights. She said, in appreciation, she had washed his truck. The next picture showed an old Ford pick-up in the swimming pool. Humor is good for the soul. cheers to all

Mac

Thank you.

Well, we'll simply continue to hope and pray until he's recovered and home. He's come this far. By God's help, he'll get over that infection soon.

I can relate to all the IV's . I felt like a pin cushion. And they drew blood every day . I teased them by saying that they had given me blood just so I'd have enough for them to take from me daily.

Thanks ! He is supposed to go home today. I think yours and his sense of humor are all good for the healing process. He teased a lot of the staff while there and found another 'Murse' (male nurse) to mentor in beekeeping ! I am lucky to have him as my Dad  :-*

Thank you AMAC for the insight on the origin of the word "hillbilly". The word really came into vogue during the 20's and 30's during the heyday of the "moonshiners". NASCAR had it's origin from that period of American history also. The bootleggers would "soup" up their cars to out run the laws. Two movies that really depicted that era were, Lawless and Thunder Road.
Do you happen to have any information on the term, "redneck"? Thanks for sharing.

Mac

A slang term, usually for a rural white southerner who is politically conservative, racist, and a religious fundamentalist (see fundamentalism). This term is generally considered offensive. It originated in reference to agricultural workers, alluding to how the back of a person's neck will be burned by the sun if he works long hours in the fields.

I need to visit America someday. The problem is that it's so big and it's difficult to know where to focus one's attention.

New York.....Grand Canyon....Orlando/Florida etc....Route 66....Boston...Vegas.....California. The list goes on.

I think New York is probably a must see for a first timer no? Florida seems a bit touristy and garish, same with Vegas.

So Americans, where would you suggest?

Actually, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore...wonderful paddle in a kayak for cave exploration or ship diving, as nothing in the water to hurt you .
