Super 8 150 / Re: Quits Running after 1 Block?
« on: December 07, 2016, 10:46:17 PM »
I just open the gas cap and blow a couple of breaths inside.  Not sure why since I am not mechanicallly minded, but it works and that is what is important to me.

As I said, the dealer said he could clean the Fuel Vent System for $60, but it is not worth that to me.

In case anyone else has or ever has this problem, I found out by trial and error how to keep the motor from quitting.  Most of the time, it was within a block of my house and I would have to wait 15+minutes before it would start again.  There were times it quit running several times a day.

As I mentioned, I am not mechanical minded, so, I don't know how to fix it, but how to keep it from quitting.  Each morning before I start it, I take the cap off of the fuel tank and blow twice into the tank. When I do that, it has NEVER quit on me.

I told the dealer what I was doing, and he said that the Fuel Vent System probably needed cleaning.  He said that perhaps I had over filled the gas some time, which I might have done.

I asked him how much to clean the Fuel Vent System, and he told me $60.  It isn't worth it to me.  I will take the 10 seconds to blow into the fuel tank.

As I said, perhaps this will help some one else who motor is quitting for what seems like no reason.

Super 8 150 / Does Everyone Use Non Ethanol Gas?
« on: September 12, 2016, 09:46:37 PM »
I have had my 2014 Super 8 150 for almost 2 years and try to use non ethanol gas as much as possible, but in my area of Florida, non ethanol gas is about 80 cents more than regular.

One of the reason that I bought a scooter was the gas mileage (I get around 64 mpg), but having to buy higher price gas offsets this.

So, I was wondering what others were using.

I posted in case some mechanically minded person might know what was wrong and I could have the dealer fix it.

If you don't know or care to help, that is fine, but there is no need to be rude to me for asking for help.  Not everyone has the same skills or knowledge.

Super 8 150 / Quits Running after 1 Block?
« on: December 22, 2015, 09:58:08 PM »
I have had my 2014 Super 8 150 for about a year and 4 times it has stopped running after 1 block and I can't get it restarted until I have waited for about 20-30 minutes.  The first 2 times this happened it was on consecutive days.  The next 2 times there was a day in between (stopped on Saturday and then again on Monday).

This has always happened the first time in the morning--never later in the day.

When it stops, I tried to get it restarted, but it doesn't even act like it wants to start, but after 20-30 minutes, it starts easily.

I use non ethanol gas most of the time and the times that I am not near a station that sells it, I buy premium and add an additive for ethanol gas.

I am not mechanically inclined and have NO idea what is wrong.  The dealer says that it could be a water bubble.  Since I never know when or if it is going to happen, I can't take it and leave it at the dealers.

Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks

Super 8 150 / Windshield?
« on: December 06, 2014, 09:22:11 PM »
I am thinking about putting a windshield on my Super 8 150, but really don't know anything about them.  I would appreciate hearing from those with windshields on what brand/size and what they like/dislike.

Thanks

I would also like to be able to use my GPS on the scooter.  So, I need to find a way/place to put it.

I checked with the dealer today and even though the big numbers are in MPH, the odometer is in kilometers.

That would mean that I got 75.6 mpg the first tank and 81.6 mpg on the second, which is about the norm.

Super 8 150 / Modifications

As a new owner, I was thinking about modifications.  For the hot Florida days, I thought a cup holder would be nice.  Perhaps sitting in the center on the floorboard.  With the cup resting on the floorboard, only some Velcro would be needed to hold the cup holder.

I would also like some music, but not sure how to do it.

While not a modification, I have a Shad 37L top box on order so that I can carry more.

Please tell/show me your modifications.

I will check with the dealer, but I find it hard to believe that the odometer is in kilometers.  Yes, the speedometer has both miles and kilometers per hour.

Anyway, had my second fill up today.  112.5 miles indicated and 0.857 gallons giving me 131.27 mpg.

I guess it is possible that my speedometer/odometer is WAY off.  I was thinking about doing a measured mile in my car and see what the scooter reads.  Will let you know when I get around to it.

From reading others here, I knew that the speedometer was off, but I didn't know/realize that also affected the odometer.

So, instead of 139.9 miles, I might actually went 118.9, which would give me 103.4 mpg.  Still, not too bad.

Picked up my new 2014 Super 8 150 in Orange, which is a lot prettier than I thought, on 9/27.  I know that there are at least two thoughts on how to break them in--nice and easy; and like you stole it.  Some one here said that for the first 300 miles only half throttle and then only 3/4ths the next 300 miles.

I tried nice and easy, but here in the Clearwater, Fl area, most street limits are 45mph, and if I only did the half throttle, I would get run over.  Going 45 is like 3/4th throttle or more.

Today, 9/28, I went on a longer ride, and at 80 miles, the gas gauge was around 3/4ths, but every mile after that, I could almost see the gauge going down and down.  At about 120 miles, it was in the red, and I was a good ways from a gas station.  I drove it around 30mph to save gas and luckily found one before I ran out.

The odometer read 139.9 and I put in 1.15 gallons, which gave me about 122mpg.  From reading others here, I thought the general average was around 70mpg.  Was this just a fluke or for the first tank?

How many miles do most go before filling up?

I am thinking about adding a top box to be able to carry more.  I worry about going to big and looking like a pimple on the back.  What are some of the average sizes?

Are there other Super 8 150 forums that are good?

Thanks
