I had not taken it out for about 2 mos. When I went to start it, after a minute of kick starting (did not want to drain battery), the carb started overflowing from the top right angled overflow tube...the one close to the diaphragm. I took it apart, inspected float, vacuum diaphragm and the auto bi-starter, cleaned  the jets and reassembled. Same  thing. It fired off for about 10 sec's then died. When turned over after, fuel started flowing out the top tube.  I guess I need to do an ohm test on the bi-starter. only have 2700 kilometers on it? Everything was quite clean. I found this fuel system manual  on line and could follow that. Just wanted to know if anyone knew if it had to be one certain thing to be flowing out of that top overflow as opposed to the lower one.  :-\

Appreciate it. Len in Norcal

Hello,

I’m having a recurring but intermittent problem.   Before and after doing my annual jet cleaning, each time I take over a 3 mile, 55+MPH ride...  after cruising at top speed for 3-5 mins, my scoot starts bogging and cutting out until it get to about 25-30MPH. I can then reaccelerate to about 40 then it bogs / cuts out again.  I end up limping back home with a frown on my face.  >:( This started this year and had not happened prior.

It seems to be getting starved for fuel after a while, which would point to either a vacuum lock or some other fuel system valve…???

Anyway, if you have any advice regarding troubleshooting, I’d appreciate it. I’ve only got 2200 Kilom’s.

Thanks a bunch.

This link helps describe the process of swapping the jets. If you go w/ just a filter 2 jet sizes bigger will usually do it for you. Filter, and a pipe is generally 3-5 sizes bigger. It will be louder around the intake, but too me it is not unpleasant. You could see 1-2 hp increase w/ 3-5 mph better. With more power available you wind up using less throttle, and you can see better mpg numbers. I think it is one of the best ways to make a little more power.
Hi Zombie,

My other scoot is a People 50cc 2t. Do you think I could get a similar boost, respectively, with the high flow and 2 size up jetting? It's hard to drive the Agility 125 and then get back on the 50cc.  It's my wifes but I like the sound of the2-stroke some times. Also like the ride with 16" vs. 12" wheels but it's sooo slow.

Super 9 / People 50cc 2T - 2008

I have an 08 People 50cc 2t and I'm finding out a few things that are different than what I've read about older models:

- They do not have rev limited CDI's
- The speedos are overstated by 5 mph up to 40 (which is really 35) and when I hit 50mph on the speedo, my GPS read 39.8 mph.
- It get's to the real 35 (40 on the speedo), without issue. The reamaing 5 mph takes a lot of time and effort...if ever due to head wind or incline.
- With a derestricted boss drive, I can only hit 39.8 mph in a full tuck, with a 5mph tail wind, after traveling WOT for about 1 mile.
- When on the center stand, the engine rev's much higher than when driving at top speed. However, it never cuts out or sputters.

So, I'm looking for a way to get at least 5+ mph without a big bore kit with pipe/carb combo.

My variator weights are 8 grams. I have stock clutch springs (both large and small). Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I can feel your pain axy. Until I started to look on the "net" I was at the will of the local dealer ( who is far less informed than MOST of the riders I have met) A lot of research into what works/ who has the best price/ and cheapest shipping route, goes a long way. The only draw back where I live is all the want to be on Jerry Springer trailer park dwellers. New York boy married to a back country girl. Thats MY pain...
I ordered a derestricted boss drive from my local Kymco dealer for my 08 People 2t as it would barely go 35 unless I had a tail wind. The part came in and when I broke down the case, I found it had already been derestricted by the orig. owner. Sooo, if anyone needs one, let me know. $35 w/shipping to 50 states.

I am a Super 9 newbie, so I thought I would post this photo to help other Super 9 newbies understand one reason why a restrictive Super 9 is annoyingly way too slow.  I am getting ready to take the piece in the photo to a local machine shop and have the restrictive metal portion machined off hoping to get to 40 mph or somewhere thereabouts.

Happy scootin'!

Can you repost the picture. I have an 08 People and want to get the boss drive derestricted. I've seen a stock part but not close up enough. It would  be great to see a pic of the CDI green / light green wire splicing too. I just bought it, cleaned out the carb, jets and adjusted the air / idle. Now I'd like to get from 35 to 45mph
