Title: KymcoPartsMonster.com no longer taking orders!!
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on February 11, 2019, 01:26:05 PM
KYMCOPARTSMONSTER.COM is no longer selling Kymco parts.
I spoke with KymcoUSA this morning to confirm this bad news.

KymcoUSA recommends that we try :

www.Varsitycycle.net (http://www.Varsitycycle.net) (WV)

www.Solanocycle.com (http://www.Solanocycle.com) (FL) We've had some serious complaints about the ability of this dealer to supply parts in a timely manner....their communication leaves much to be desired, as well . Please make every effort before hand to speak with a person at this dealership about what you'd like to order. If you're not satisfied try another dealer - YOUR dealer obviously is your best first choice ...if you have one!

Some of us have not had very good luck getting parts through our dealer - so Partsmonster has been the source for Kymco parts for many of us in N. America, for years.

Obviously this may not be very good news for Kymco's future in America.....but we will have to see how these other suppliers work for us.

KymcoUSA says they are "trying to work something out", in the mean time we have these other sources for parts.

If you have had good experience with another source - please pass this on to the members here!
We can build a data base for parts sources in the USA - and it will become a sticky.

Oy! Could this be another ploy like cyclepedia? I suspect the traffic in parts got slow and therefore, unprofitable. Considering the cycle slowdown and Kymco USA dealer policies, it is not surprising. But, HEY! We got this! Ebay/Amazon for regulators-rectifiers, mike's stators in CA, West60cycle salvage in Neosho, MO and Stig's mountain of Like parts, we got it covered!

Currious as to your comment about Kymco Dealer Policies? Why is it so difficult to for dealers to order parts?

Karl can answer as well....
But my findings are that the dealer can order the parts.....if only they would not take so long to put an order into motion....and would take the time to phone when it arrives.
My experience with ordering through the dealer's parts counter --- made me turn to online ordering from partsmonster.

I ordered filters and a few other parts to have on stand by. Bert's Mega Mall got those to me pretty quick.

I am not going to let all this bad news bother me and just enjoy my new scooter.

For Kymco owners in the Portland OR area Sargent's Motorsports has been my parts outlet. I can pick up parts from them but they will ship to owners who live too far away.

I like Leeson's, have been buying parts from them for some time and their prices are usually lower  than the Monster, with no shipping costs on orders over $100.

Well, checked couple of parts prices from sites given by KYMCO USA. ..looked to be 10 to 20% higher than old monster prices! Rats!
We'll make do...and hope for the best. We do not need another SYM type fiasco.

No. I did not get that impression while talking to Kymco USA yesterday.
BTW, I  identified myself as being the moderator of a USA based, worldwide, Kymco forum - and that I would be passing info on to our members.

No, not leaving the USA - but rather concerned about losing our largest online parts house.
Kymcopartsmonster carried many parts ( never had them say they didn't have a part fro my LIKE200iLX !) and I  always found prices to be competitive,  or best, plus you could get phone advice from a Kymco knowledgeable human!

Interesting.  Anyone have info on why PartsMonster would quit with Kymco?

I can get parts ordered thru local powersports dealer who has an online parts divison, and pick them up.  They are a Kymco dealer, but don't advertise as such, and may only carry a few Agility 50's if that.

They groan and seem unhappy to order Kymco parts.  Not sure if it is because of order minimums, poor support, or what.  Last part I ordered, a jet, was $16- and took a couple of weeks to get in.  Other than the price, I was OK with that.

Well, THAT IS what the dealer problem is with Kymco parts! They are not required to stock parts since Kymcos rarely NEED parts! While I think this is mostly true, I think it completely ignores the riders who want to "fiddle" with their ride and/or hot-rod. It really sucks when you need something like a CVT belt which costs 99 to 100 bucks AND THEN have to shell out 15 bucks for shipping! The Mitsuboshi belts that Kymco uses are the BEST but, hey! I have had to buy one belt and my dealer waived the shipping! Don't know why but he did. The belt disintegrated because mice packed the CVT cooling inlet with bird seed! It lasted for a 500 mile trip but doubt it would have made it to 505 miles!

Been my experience that the dealers with good service depts also has/gets parts quickly.
That’s said I’ve always dealt with a dealer that’s on the above suggested supply list. Lucky.

We live in a world where loyalty hardly exists. To my experience this is very applicable in the business world. No matter how hard an ordinary consumer try to be loyal to any supplier or dealer, for those in business everything is always about making money - loyalty from their side always sucks.

Therefore I'm not loyal to any supplier, or dealer.  I've learned hard lessons during my lifetime, and somehow discovered the only way not to get disappointed is not to rely on anyone other than yourself.

Just my two bits; albeit I did do business with Kymcopartsmonster previously.
There are a few left out there online
https://www.racingplanetusa.com/ (https://www.racingplanetusa.com/)
For instance.  They do have OEM parts in their mix.
Availability does vary by model, but they can also get Euro stuff if that's your bent.
They tend to get stuff shipped in a batch from Europe once a week or so thus delivery can be slow but they've come through for me on stuff for my old S200 & my SYMs.

Beyond that my local dealer ain't bad to deal with either.

Cheers

The last Kymco part I needed was some brake pads for my Super 8.  I got them for less than 9 bucks from Walmart.com.

As for Kymco USA, the word from my dealer is that they had a lot of recent personnel turnover and that is causing some problems dealing with them.

I'm in Italy at the moment for a week or so. Here, every Piaggio dealer is also a Kymco parts dealer. I wish I spoke Italian, as I'd love to talk to the proprietors a bit.

I'll take some pictures and write up some notes later in the week. It's like a scooter mecca here.

The Italians are very helpful in general. To my experience those who can't speak English, will try to find somebody who can speak English if you need any information. Or try to talk to the younger generation, most of them can speak English and they are keen to share information.

I was also amazed to see how popular scooters are in Italy. A city like Bologna has many students, and many of them commute on scooters. Many adults also mainly depend on scooters for daily commuting.  Many of those scooters have unusual high screens for wind and rain protection. I thought the screens  looked a bit weird, but realized those high screens are actually very practical. I loved talking to the students  - the students were very friendly and were keen to share information about Italian history, scooters, etc.

The picture (below) was taken at the Bologna railway station during 2003, when I visited Italy.  Some scooters with the high screens can be seen on the picture.

Looking forward to your post & pix!
One reason I like warching films shot in Paris, Rome, Barcelona ---- all the scooters in the scenes.
You gotta remember. ..I'm in scooter desert of rural Midwest.

Thanks Dean - I've made a note.

The high screens are because everybody rides with open-face lids without visors! You rarely see a scoot without a screen here.

I'd like to rent one but I think Ms. Viper believes her pillion days are behind her.

Plenty of Agility 50s and 125s around, but the undisputed kings are the Honda SH150, the Aprilia Scarabeo (doesn't really exist anywhere else) and the Piaggio Liberty. Entirely different to the UK's taste in scoots!

Yup, I do remember those open-face helmets very well.  It perfectly complimented the beautiful faces of those stylish, perfectly dressed Italian ladies on their scooters.  I'm not talking about  "scooter gear", "bike gear", or "slops"  - I'm talking "the latest style, most expensive fashion" available on the market !

To be honest - those beautiful ladies on their scooters have changed my mind about scooters for ever. They even made the tallest screen and most basic scooter look brilliant !
After seeing the ladies on their scooters, I started thinking even the most beautiful motorcycles look very unpractical, and even a bit stupid !

Talking about high screens - maybe the real purpose is to protect the perfect make-up on those beautiful faces ?

I'm going thru my gti 300 now it's right at 20,000 miles.  Back tire k66 from the UK, rear brake pads Spain, performance air filter Greece nothing took more than 2 weeks to receive.  The kicker is I've had givi windscreen on order from a place in Nevada for 2 or 3 weeks now and nothing.

Good to know. I'm in Eugene, about 2 hours drive to Portland. We have a dealer here but I don't  have my Kymco yet so not sure how easy it will be to get parts locally.

Yup just spoke with them now and they will not refund the rollers they sent me that won't fit my bike at all. Very disappointed in this place.  These rollers cost me 80 bucks to get them to me.

In your other post, you mention heavier rollers. Did you get another set when these ones did not work out?
Are you sure they actually weigh more.
Can you check on a micro scale?
That is the only way to be sure.

Since you fitted the new rollers did the revs drop?

Hey, big thumbs up for the Taiwan link!  This looks useful (they speak English, but don't show the Kymco parts diagrams). The only other place I've been able to find my Kymco parts is in France.  They have the diagrams, but I don't speak French!

I would respectfully disagree with listing solano cycle as a reliable source for Kymco parts. First, their online ordering system is broken, second, their customer service is the complete opposite of good. This is based on first hand experience with them. A very disappointing, frustrating 2 1/2 month experience trying to order some basic parts.

Yup I just ordered an OEM windshield for my 2011 DT300 ($85) from the same place I been ordering from for several years now~

https://www.powersportswarehouse.com/oemparts/c/kymco/parts

I dont think I`ve ever ordered from PartsMonster. I do know that I`ve bought tires and a Malossi belt from Chaparral motorsports, everything else for my scoot has come from the link above including OEM drive belts, oil and air filters, and while I was on there today I found that they even have the little brackets that hold the reflectors on the back.

UPDATE~THEY CANCELLED MY ORDER AND REFUNDED MY MONEY SAYING THE WINDSHIELD WAS ON BACKORDER AND THEY NO ETA.
So it looks like they arent the supplier they have themselves made out to be, they let you shop, order items and give them your info, they send a confirmation e-mail with an order number then they cancel the order instead of telling you its out of stock in the first place.
Also, the cancellation notice comes from yamahapartsonline.
So I`ll move on and find another supplier.

They also come up with stuff others can't at times since they are just an outpost of a Euro-Retailer.
