Super 8 150 / My drive belt...
« on: September 22, 2016, 10:27:26 PM »
It's time for me to change out my belt, I've measured it and it comes out to 784 millimeters, and all I see it 669's, 720's-743's, even 800's and higher but no 784, do I have to buy kymco's belt, I mean it has a part # on it like its their plan? :/

You know how that goes, it's always the next model up like fuel injection and stuff but I'm happy with my trail tech tach and voltmeter, they fit and look pretty nice.

That's great! I'm happy for you bro, and just for future measures maybe you should invest in a voltmeter from trail tech, they're a little pricy but they're the best and rated for wether "wkreps" is a user here on the forum and he has videos on how to install it, well similar meters, but you can mount it up on your dash and it'll give you warnings before your battery gets too low on a charge.

Think of your scooter as if it is your pet, they feel crumby when you do, they can sense your negativity, so maybe so can your scooter. :D

I wish you the best of luck, and remember to be positive cause I swear my scooter can since my negativity, I've gotten stuck places a few times by engine issues like yours. :/

The bulbs aren't designed to drain your battery and with the way motorcycles and scooters work these days, the lights only come on and stay on when the engine is running so the power is generally supplied by the engines power and not the battery, what your issue sounds like is with the engine, you may have a vacuum line leak, check your valves, clean your carb with some seafoam through your gas lines, because I've had a similar issue to yours, but in your case your bike dies and you don't have a battery to restart it with utterly stranding you, your CDI, Carb, Vacuum lines, Air Filter, and Valves are what you need to check, and if your scooter sits for a while without being driven then gas cleaner will clean out the ethanol.

Does the entire shut off while in idle, for no real reason, do all the electrics cut off too or does just the engine shut down, because as a bike ages it'll do it occasionally like with mine, generally right after a gas fill up, if you stop hard or something, or maybe all the gas isn't being burned before stopping so it's choking the carb, the electrical system shouldn't cause your bike to die because these scooters are fairly simple, maybe your CDI is going bad, order a new one from kymco because an after market one can damage your engine, so what exactly does it do, what does it feel like before is dies?

Is the battery not charging, have you tried charging it, if not buy another battery, or as you said you don't want to run it with a battery, the kickstarter is all you need, turn the key to "on" and use the kickstarter, it should start but it's pretty difficult sometimes, good luck.

« on: August 30, 2016, 04:29:36 PM »
It's so frustrating that all of the models shown in any repair manuals are of 2013's and lower, the 2014 has like eight different little panels on the front fender area, the older models have like three or four. :/

Have any of you guys had one of those small white LEDs burn out on you yet, if so did you replace it and if yes, how so, it looks bad?

Super 8 150 / Re: Getting passed by 50cc's!

All the time, I live in Hawaii and everybody drives the cheap crap modified mopeds, they pass me and somehow maintain 60+, an exhaust, uni filter, and a few other small mods can't possibly take it from a 35mph max to over 55mph can it?

« on: August 18, 2016, 10:23:14 PM »
Mine is a 150cc with 10.3 hp, theirs is a 50cc with like 1 or 2 horsepower, I know they are easily modifyable but come on, it's just frustrating that the cheap garbage Chinese mopeds can reach 60+ and maintain that speed while I can barely do 58mph, honestly is there anything I can do to help my scooter or no, kymco needs to beef up the engines on these things like Honda does?

An Iridium NGK spark plug might help stabilize the idle.....but probably will not cure a scooter that stalls at off-throttle.
Miles on this scooter?
Air filter & spark plug replaced and valves last serviced?
Stig

-I adjusted the valves during my last oil change and were aligned but I'll try checking again
-I also replaced the spark plug recently
-It has 6700 miles
-And I'm actually waiting on an air filter
Thanks for the suggestions cause it all helps.

I own a 2014 model and this issue is fairly new, after the bike is warmed up and has been driven around for a while, if I pull up to stop light and end up having to wait for a while without twisting the throttle a bit every once and awhile itll "skip a beat" once then suddenly die shortly after, it starts right back up most of the time but not always, it has even done it while coasting to a stop for stop signs and lights, any suggestions on what it may be please, it is beyond frustrating?
