People s200 / Re: shifting problem
« on: August 21, 2023, 07:41:32 PM »
I will take a look but it is not fuel or carb. As long as i keep throttle to go fifty it does not shift any more until I let off the throttle. Then I will hear the engine slow down a bit as the tranny shifts and ipeed goes up to about 64 indicated. Same thing every time. Think the plates on the back end are not moving until I let off the throttle a bit? Belt new. Carb new. Contra spring weak over the the years maybe?

Hi everyone. My problem is that up to 50 mph indicated all is fine with shifting but at 50 mph indicated the bike stops accelerating. It will not shift to a higher speed unless I reach 50 and then back off the gas a bit and then the tranny will shift so that my speed increases. Is this the clutch drive faces not moving properly? I have not had this problem in the past and have just noticed it. Have not changed anything for a few years and then all I did was to lighten my roller weights a bit. Thanks for any input. Brian.

Sorry guys. I worded it wrong. I meant so that the clutch grabs quicker instead of the engine winding up before the clutch engages. My Kymco is plenty fast enough for me from takeoff. My Navi clutch engages much quicker than on my S200. I like that. Not sure if the Kymco has 1000, 1500 or 2000 RPM clutch springs stock. Any of you guys know which? Thanks.

Have any of you guys put in different clutch springs for quicker take offs? My Navi has me spoiled.

Easter Shore is great. Lived here for 40 years. Dover museum is great as well as Delaware WWII towers and Assateaque. Also check out Wallops Island Launch Facility to see if any launches are happening. Have seen flights to the International Space Station a few times. Also Fort Delaware is fun but does not open until End of April and of course the Ocean City board walk for salt water taffy. Enjoy your stay! Brian.

Yup. Bought one of only two my dealer got in. $1807.00. Another $900 to get it out the door. Destination fee, $400.00. Tags, title, taxes and insurance. Still good I think for a brand new Honda. I love it. Not as speedy as my kymco but of course is only 109cc. Plenty fast enough up to 40 mph. Still beat the cars out of the stop (green) lights. Fun as hell. Has a nice little box for vitals and such. Have rewired it for dc lights instead of ac, like I did with my Kymco, thanks to you. Also replaced the left handle bar parking brake with a regular lever like a regular scooter, just to keep things straight in my mind when braking. I kept the right rear foot brake pedal as is. Easier to just let it be. Have put 300 trouble free miles on it. Did an oil and rear oil change, and checked the valves. They did not need adjustment yet, suprisingly. Will check again around 1000 miles. I am very pleased with it. It does everything I need it to do and is a fun ride. I highly recommend it.

Yes. I got the collar finally. I made my own out of two washers JB welded together but never used it. I will save it as a spare. I had tons of trouble with the Salano store in Florida. The web sight does not except credit cards but they do receive the order. They just don't do anything with it until you call them and give them the credit info. I did not want to use them because of many issues in the past but could not find a collar anywhere else. The people there are very nice but are extremely busy and disorganized. All is well now. Yay! I bought the first Honda Navi available in my town so I had something to ride while I waited.

Yup. It came off when I was riding. Smelled burnt plastic. The rear wheel was wobbling just enough that it would rub on the rear plastic wheel cover. It still rode well enough. Ironically I work at a factory with a machine shop that could make the part but they are not allowed to. Rats. I finally got hold of a human at Solano cycles in Florida. I had trouble with their website last rear also. Will not let me put in what kind of card I am using. Visa, mastercard, etc. I had to email all the info to them, same as last year. Hopefully they will have it. She said it would come from a Kymco warehouse. Everywhere else I tried did not have the part. This weekend I will try the washer experiment until it comes in. In theory it should work. Of course in theory the earth is flat. We shall see. Thank you gentlemen. Wish me luck.

Hey gang. I lost my rear wheel nut and the collar off my scooter. Not on tight enough I suppose. Makes me mad. Anyway, I bought another nut but I can't find another collar. Have tried quite a few places online but no one has one. Part number 42312-KHB4-900. If any of you guys have one please let me know. I would like to buy it from you. If not, do you think I could replace it with washers? Smaller ones to put in first, then a larger one on the outside followed by the nut. Let me know gang, and thanks. Brian.

General Discussion / Re: the pirates were angry today

When I first started riding in the 70's damn near everyone waved back. After a 20 year hiatus I was dissapointed to discover that that was no longer the case. Especially with the cruisers. For a while I would only wave if they did. I did not like this. This wasn't me. So then I went back to waving at everyone once again. This made me feel better and if they don't respond that's okay. I drove an old VW bug for years and we all waved to one another. It was like being in a club. My old neighbor who was a good friend of mine bought a nice Harley one year after selling his even nicer old Triumph. I always wanted a Bonneville. Once he got on that bike he refused to even look my way when we passed each other. I asked him why and he said because he was on a Harley now. Ha! So after that I started giving him the finger when we passed. Double Ha! This brought him around and he finally acknowledged my existence after that. People are funny. Strangely when ever I used to ride my beat up 1963 Honda Supercub I always got a wave back. Maybe because it looked so rough or because millions of Americans probably rode this for their first motorbike ride. I still miss it but it went to a good home where it is being restored now. Now I'm on a bright red Kymco and still waving as usual and happy. Brian.

People s200 / Re: FRONT WHEEL REMOVAL
« on: September 22, 2021, 06:07:32 PM »
Got the front wheel off no problem. Have done this on other motorbikes, lifting the front wheel up with whatever but did not know if the plastic on the bottom of the scoot was strong enough to support it. It went fine. Put a new bridgestone tire on, new brake pads, changed the fork oil thanks to the great pictures and text on how to do that on this site. Also bypassed the light control module so my lights no longer dim at idle. For whatever reason I did not like that. It was easy to do, again thanks to the great pictures and text. It has not affected my battery with starting and does not seem like it will. Yay! The bike now rides smooth as silk below 40MPH and is much improved above that speed. I used 10 weight oil. Anyone here ever played around with different viscosities? Put a new windshield on it yesterday. It is thinner than the flyscreen so I will put some rubber strips on it to hold it in place better. It does squeak a little. Even if it gets no better with the rubber it will be worth it for winter riding. Should be a 9 or 10 month riding scooter with the windshield. I live on Eastern Shore Md. Winters are not that bad here usually. Thanks for all the help gang. Will write later about my LED tail light project and results. Brian.

New Bridgestone tire, new brake pads and change the front fork oil. I am hoping the new oil will help the rough ride. I have always thought the rough ride was because the wheel base is so much shorter compared to my Honda Helix. Did not know changing the old oil would make much of a difference. Hope it does. Anything over thirty and it is rough. In town this is no problem but on the back roads a softer ride would be a blessing. I would also like to disconnect the electrical component that dims the lights at idle. Half of my riding is at night and I find this feature annoying. Do you know how to do this? I don't think I will drain the battery too much without it, or will I? Any thoughts on this gang? Thanks. Brian.

Any suggestions on how to prop up the front of my scoot when I remove the front wheel?

Drained the oil out. It was 150ml. Should I replace with 150ml of gear oil or 180ml like what is stamped on the rear casing? Brian.

Once I started the engine before the speedometer needle finished it's sweep (from full left to right and back). Needle stuck where it was when I started motor. Fixed it by turning on ignition again and letting the needle complete it's strange journey left and right and it "fixed" itself. Ever since then I let it speedo needle do it's thing before starting. Brian.
