Title: My morning coffee spot
Post by: Doc Wheezer on September 24, 2017, 03:18:14 PM
Living in the foothills, some mornings I take a 13 mile ride about 20 minutes to the mountains to enjoy my home brewed coffee.
Unlike a lot of the country we don't have cute little towns with gourmet coffee shops.
I have to settle for mountain views and general store coffee.

Yep Coyotes, Roadrunners and Tumbleweeds.  Here is a picture I took a year ago Veteran's Day, while on a ride. Don't know where the Acme box is hid.
Sorry, no current picture of a roadrunner or tumbleweed.  I see them often, but never thought to take a picture. Out where we live, we still have tumbleweeds rolling down the street sometimes.

Good job Doc.
Unless one lives here in the Mojave desert, nobody on here knows where this is. The first two pictures are from Red Rock Canyon in
Las Vegas, Nevada.I have done the Red Rock ride so many times on my Agility 125cc bike.  I have gone hiking in many of those areas too or Red Rock. The third picture could be near the local farm up in the Northwest part of town.
The scooter brigade is having our In N Out gathering this Saturday at noon local time.

The thirteen mile ride is the Red Rock loop that everyone takes who goes through Red Rock. One can even do the tourist hike know at Turtle Hill Peek. This hike is an asskicker. It has very little traction on the way down. The scree is what kills you.  The scooter brigade has their annual picnic up there too.

You should post pictures of Mount Charleston and the Bowl of Fire at Lake Mead. Even Hamlin Peek has great views of the Vegas Valley.

Hey, Mojave! Burt Rutan, gifted aircraft designer and builder, at the airport. Just built the world's biggest airplane. Built the world's only airplane the flew around the world on one tank of gas! Flew there on my first cross-country for commercial ticket. Got ripped of by the gas monkey. Got to meet Burt. Whatta genius!

Ah Wile E. Coyote. A star from my childhood.

On the same subject, this symbolic GIF was doing the rounds after the UK's decision to exit the EU...(although you could pick just about any one of Wile E's efforts to catch the damn bird.

So it's called Scooter Nite but it's at 12 noon (Meetup site). I'll be in town so I might stop by. Mike.

It is called scooter Nite. This was started back in 2009 by the original member before they moved out of Vegas. Now that fall is here, the current organizer decided to make this in the day instead of night event. The reason is allow to more people to attend. The fall months are much cooler than the spring and summer months.

MJR: I pm you with my phone number and email.

Sweet. The cross streets are Tropicana and Dean Martin drive by the I 15. It is just west of the New York, New York casino and hotel.
See you Saturday. Our organizer is Lou Ann. 8)

David, You were right about the first two pictures, but the third picture is less than three miles from the Red Rock overlook.
Stephanie Yue and I had hot chocolate sitting out on the front porch after our ride through Red Rock.

Doc:
The Bowl of Fire is a hike at Lake Mead. I did it a few years ago. Very few people have heard of it because it is not a well
known hike.  Everyone does Anniversary Narrows and railroad tunnel trails hike there. Hamblin Peek is another popular hike.
Everyone knows about the Frenchmen's Mountain hike. this is a very steep hike and is not for beginners. Lave Butte is another
popular hike which I have done too.
