MXU / Replacement carburetor for 2016 mxu 270?
« on: July 31, 2021, 08:52:14 PM »
I cannot find a damn thing online about a replacement carb. They are all for 2007 and under. Nothing for a 2016. Am I missing something? Anyone have a correct part number? Or link to one I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Not sure on the 270 but I seriously doubt it is much lower than our MXU450. The MXU 450 calls for 147ft. lbs. of torque and also requires red locktite. It may very well be working it's way loose. Which if it does come off can be terrible and cause a lot of damage inside the housing. I recommend you shut it down until you have time to get locktite  and torque it much higher. I don't like guessing on those numbers but Arctic Cat also sells the 270 under their name. You may very well find more information about the 270 searching under Arctic Cat online. It would be shocking to find that the CVT was any different. I am running an Arctic Cat XC450 cvt sheaves that have been machined for faster acceleration in my MXU 450. I would also leave the cover off and either block it up or ride it yourself and look over the CVT system to make sure everything is right, Then install the cover. I would not allow anyone else to ride it with the cover off as that can be dangerous.

Let me edit that, Arctic Cat calls it as a 300 but it is the Kymco 270 motor, drivetrain.

That should give you the information you need for torque values, it is considerably lower than the 450 but higher than 30-40. Hope that helps you out some. Only other thing I can think of is maybe it needs to break in some. The speed should be 38 with the drive boss you installed. I have a niece with the Kymco 300. I'll try to get up with them and see what theirs will do.

Wow I think I'd snap the drive in half if I tryed to torque that high. It came off pretty easy and didn't have any locktite on it I didn't wanna go to hard and break it. I'll go put at 75lb and see if it helps I only took it around the corner and back. Thanks for help

Well common sense would be if a 90 unrestricted can do 30 a 270 should do hell of a lot more it's almost triple the hp. I bought because I didn't want to buy him another one in 2 years but that's not gonna happen.

It dosent make that noise all the time only once in a while usually on decell.  Yes the washers are removable and was told by dealer u can take those off and get 32mph until the boss face arrived then to install that to get to 38mph so I did that but still can't get over 32mph with speed screw out to 15.3mm max allowed. The new drive dosent have that spacer welded at end so it's 1/4 in shorter so it squeezes everything tighter. I used a impact to to tighten the bolt is there a certain torque it needs to be tightened to? I didn't tighten it super tight but it is prolly at 30 40 ftlbs

Well they shouldn't have bs dealers to tell customer oh it's twice as fast as the 90 derestricted. No 32 isn't fast enough for trail riding. It's MY MACHINE last time I checked who said anything about modifying who wants to spend 4k for some pos machine that goes 14mph my  lawnmower is faster.

U can't call kymco for Any thing they would not tell me a thing but contact your dealer. Thats bs. No other reputable company would say that to a customer.

The correct drive boss you need is PN: 22105-LBA7-900
If you have something different it is not correct.
I suggest you invest in a service manual

CJS

That is exactly the part I ordered. So u just take out old one slide that one is and tighten back down? That's exactly what I did. Still only goes 32mph.

Here's pics of stock boss face drive with 2 rings and welded end. The new one from a 15 mxu 300 is same thing without welded end but when u put new one on its shorter by 1/4in so it squeezes belt tight between cvt I don't think that's right..

The whole point of me buying this 270 is so my kid can keep up with us when riding. Tell me how a 90cc goes 30mph and 3 times the cc only goes 32?! You guys wouldn't be pissed off that u just wasted another 3500? Dealer I got it from is a idiot and has no idea how to derestrict it. So I bought a boss face drive from a 15 mxu 300. This looks like a piston pin the one that was in it had a spacer welded at the end and 2 rings 1 thicker 1 skinny. I was told by the dealer to removed the old boss face drive and to put the new one in. Now sometime it makes a rattling noise when driving it kinda like a rod knock everything is tight and I'm not a retard I know how to take things apart and put together but it just dosent seem right. There is no videos online on these atvs and if u try to call someone for help they won't help you and say u gotta take to a dealer blah blah blah well the only dealer is 2 hours away and they don't repair them! I didnt pay 3500 for a lousy 8mph its pathetic a 300cc should go 50mph. Is there something else I need besides the boss face drive? Anyway I could get correct part numbers on what needs to be done? Thanks

MXU / 16 270 mxu is a pos!

Bought this new last week and traded in my kids 16 arctic cat 90 because it was too small and slow to keep up with us riding. Well this pos 270 won't go over 15mph with or without the screw. I took cvt cover apart and it has 1 thick spacer and 1 think spacer but the main part that the spacer slides on to Has like a spacer at the end of it already. It's not like the arctic cat spacer idk I'm seriously pissed that 90 went 30mph and this worthless pos can't do 15. What do I take off or do to fix this damn thing nothing on Google tells you anything and the pos manual says unscrew throttle to go faster ya that's just gonna make it blow up. Should of know better. Thanks
