I can still hit 45+ on a stock belt no probs. You can run longer belts, 736 Malossi belt worked well for me in the past, but its a kevlar and i dont like kevlar belts myself. Sounds like worn rollers or the rollers may be too light. Or the torque spring is too stiff, stock, 1000rpm or 1500rpm spring works well depending on the rest of the set up, i found a 2000 rpm spring doesnt work no matter what i tried, its just too stiff for a 4t 50cc.

Take off the cvt cover and have a look to see if you can see any obvious problems?

I always buy good brand name tyres, best to find which one get best reviews online for all round grip. Also if you ride in the rain make sure they perform well in the wet, a lot of cheaper tyres are good enough on dry roads but are really bad on wet ones. Get the make and pattern number/name and just type it into google followed by "review", you should find plenty of info and opinions on each of them.

Always wanted an old Vespa but with me living at the ocean now It just wouldn't last too long.

Alright, its a Lambretta, but looks just the ticket for you.

$244 for a Vespa Pimpy, those were the days, add a zero now for that exact same scoot in good condition. I almost bought one of them last year with an 80cc kit on it, the guy was asking £1300 for it, and it still needed a complete respray too since he'd hand painted it with household paint and a brush!

The CDI on my A50 was limited to around 7500rpm too before i cut it, now revs to 9000rpm or just over downhills at WOT, been running it like this for over 2 years now with no damage to the engine at all. I didnt have a tach but fitted one to help with tuning a while back. I ride WOT all the time when i ride it, normally never drops less than 6500-7000rpm, only minor issue is that running it at higher rpm's is the belt and rollers wear out a lot quicker so need replaced more often.
