2 observations after my first 2 rides
« on: August 29, 2018, 06:35:13 PM »
I've ridden my 2015 Like 200i twice now, about 50 miles each.  I have two observations:

1) It doesn't like (no pun intended) rough roads.  These back roads were paved, somewhat, problem is that there were about 3-4 layers of pot-hole patches.  Now these roads would have been tough on any street bike.  My KLR650 would have been at home here.  But my Kymco danced and bounced around too much.  I told it I was sorry and I promised it wouldn't happen again.

2) If I make a very sharp slow speed turn, one where I have to turn the handlebars a lot, they can trap/pin my knee and leg.  I'm somewhat tall (6'2") with a 34-in inseam.   I've learned to splay my knees to the outside when I make one of these driveway-type maneuvers.

NOTE:  Coming from a lifetime of motorcycles, I still haven't made the mistake (yet) of locking up the rear wheel by grabbing the "clutch".   :P

Harsh ride is the first thing I said after a test ride for my wife's Like. I had been spoiled by a Yager!

What is the difference in the suspension between the Yager and the Like?

There are roads I quickly learned to never ride on the LIKE.
Once I sorted out the route I started looking for better shocks.
After I rebuilt the seat I stopped thinking about better shocks. (I have a set of Progressive shocks still in the box - just never installed them)

I now have a smooth 54 mile circuit with no traffic (at 5:30AM) to ride.

After I realized that I probably wasn't going to ride to Central America very often, I sold the 500lb Burgman interstate cruiser capable 400 - and thoroughly enjoy my lighter scoots.

Still don’t understand Kymco ergonomics design.  31” seat height should match the leg room as well.

I imagine these scoots fit the population that buys the vast majority of them.
I don't think the knee room is an accident, or a design mistake. The much bigger Honda Forza is the same. (the Burgman has a butt stop that moves 50mm's fore & aft - for Gringos)
We're lucky they even bother with American sales.

I'm a touch over 6'3"....and unless I'm making U-turns in my bedroom, I've done just fine for 14,000 miles on my LIKE200iLX.

You're the global mod -- why don't you fix the quote above your post. It's the post by snoopzilla.  Then you can delete this post that I just made.

I just deleted it.  Not sure how that happened

Yager has bigger wheels.

I noticed that leg cramping thing shortly after I bought it,   I was making a u-turn on a city street , and almost dumped it.
I was horrified.  I liken it to the same problem of not being able to hang a helmet, or hang a helmet and open the seat,
the design is just too small.  I think the 200i should come with a warning about that.  I've had a lot of scooters, and that
never happened to me b4

Pegs at the front of the seat bucket for hanging a helmet.
As for the knee room - that is decided when trial sitting the scooter before the purchase - and, I'm sure it fits the targeted Asian buyer just fine. I'm a bit over 6 foot 3 inches - and just glad to be able to buy one in Ohio.
