General Discussion / A request...
« on: January 21, 2014, 10:54:33 PM »
Posting this here to reach a wider audience than the model-specific forum.

Does anyone know of an available non-runner 09 or thereabouts Agility 50 in a reasonable radius from Minneapolis? The guy I sold mine to got SMIDSY'd and its looking like the insurance co will declare it a total loss. With a non-runner where the front end is in decent shape to work with, he could still have a scoot....

Technical | How To / Electrical q....
« on: April 30, 2013, 07:07:56 AM »
OK, so I have an agility 50 that I'm prepping for sale to a friend. It starts just fine on the kick but it doesnt charge beyond minimal levels (not enough to use the electric start even after half an hours running) and its looking to me like the battery is not holding a charge any more - fair enough it's a 4 year old battery so no worries replacing it. however, I was wondering about it and put a meter on the connections with the battery disconnected.

I'm showing zero resistance between the battery wiring connections as soon as the key switch and kill switch are on,  I'm thinking I've probably got a short in there that's actually draining the battery while the thing is running. What's the most likely location of a short to ground in the agility wiring harness? I know I'm gonna have to take off all the tupperware and trace every piece of it to make sure but if there's a most common location of electrical issues like this I'd sure be glad to know it to save me some time..

For what it's worth, it starts fine on the kickstarter, runs just fine thereafter. Jumping it, it will start on the electric start with no issues and run without problems, but the old battery in there will never charge enough to turn it over.

The real question I'm asking, I guess, is this: Does this look like an old dead battery or a wiring short or both to you guys? I've no problems replacing the battery given its age but I just get real suspicious of any circuit that shows open as soon as the switches are turned on.

Xciting 500 / Antsy for my scoot...
« on: March 26, 2013, 11:36:45 PM »
So... I just ordered a new xc500 from my local dealer a week ago. There's still about 3 weeks to go til it gets here. And the weather is warming up faster than I thought,  it could be riding temps in the morning in less than two weeks. Is there a cure for the GimmeMyScootNowDammit syndrome?

Agility 50 / Bidding a fond farewell to my guilty 50....
« on: March 18, 2013, 06:17:59 PM »
It's been a nice long run and I'll be sorry to see it go. Sadly, although I'd like to keep it I just dont have room in my garage since that space is about to be occupied by one of its big-bore cousins.

Fortunately I know somebody who will happily take it off my hands and use it so it wont be suffering from sitting idle and will get plenty more miles on it before it finally croaks.

Agility 50 / this is probably a dumb question...
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:48:24 AM »
ok, so as dumb as it may be I have to ask.. Do you think I need a bigger pilot jet? (current is stock) Conventional wisdom says to tune the mixture screw for highest stable idle speed.. but "highest idle speed" for mine is all the way in with the engine fully warmed. I havent changed anything that would increase the airflow, filter and pipe are both stock.

the headwind on the way home tonight was EVIL

Managed to get my fingers frost nipped even though the ambient temp was in the 50s and wearing my windproof shells over my normal gloves... damn it hurts but its worth it :)

Dont fear the windchill

Agility 50 / tendency to flood now that the weather has changed.
« on: April 02, 2010, 09:31:42 PM »
All of a sudden my agility 50 has started giving problems starting - it fires usually on the first try, catches, then just fades away and dies, smelling like its flooded itself and at that point I may as well start walking for the bus stop. Pulled the carb and did all the usual stuff cleaning it out and looking for problems, nothing of note. First time after putting it back in, no problems - fired up and ran just fine. Once it had sat in my garage overnight, back to the same issue. Its been running fine day after day until this, only diff is its suddenly got a lot warmer overnight (midwest) so whatever it is, seems like it could be temperature related... (or I got some bad gas last fill)

I'm sure its something real simple I'm overlooking. Any thoughts?
