Super 8 150 / Battery box components
« on: November 28, 2016, 09:52:43 PM »
I just recently was robbed of my battery and everything in that compartment. Cut right out at the harness. Anyone have some pictures to share of the wiring there? I've only found schematics that don't match what I have. I have the cdi already, but I think I'm missing the starter relay maybe?

Super 8 150 / Rear end sway
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:02:15 PM »
My buddy was riding with me the other day, said my rear end was swaying really bad around some of the corners on the parkway. I didn't pay it any mind until this morning. Doing about thirty, I moved the barslg left to right quickly and the tail sway was terrible. Almost scary. My other scooters don't give that much at all, even softer single shock setups.
Any one else have this issue? 2013 super 8 150.
Btw, here's a picture from the ride.

Super 8 150 / Rear disc conversion?
« on: May 07, 2016, 04:49:06 PM »
I have a super 9 with rear disc brakes and love it, wondering if anyone has ever done a rear disc conversion on their super 8?
I figure it's possible, just a lot of work, unless there's a model like the agility that comes with rear disc brakes.

First, if I am not allowed to post this here just let me know, or if it needs to be moved, etc...
@paceneedstides and me have started a scooter club! He's got the Facebook links, here's a little website I created. Let me know what y'all think!

Thanks!

I'd be honored to add a link to this forum on my page, if that's cool.
Beware on desktop, there's music and I haven't found out how to turn it down or add a stop or mute option. A little thing I put together...

Super 9 / Speedometer gear or puck
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:31:55 AM »
I know this isn't the wanted section,  but I figured this is more localized...
My gear in my speedometer puck was slightly stripped,  now it's almost useless.  I'd like to retain the stock dash,  so I'm looking for either the gear alone or the whole puck.  Has anyone upgraded their speedo and can spare the gear?  Know of where to get one maybe?  Thanks all!

Agility 50 / Chinese engine??
« on: November 16, 2015, 01:51:28 AM »
I recall hearing or seeing something that Kymco switched their engines,  used to be of better quality but in the recent years switched to the lesser quality Chinese type.
Can anyone confirm this?  Maybe a source as well?

Agility 50 / Should I buy it?
« on: November 07, 2015, 04:04:33 PM »
Looked at a 2012 agility this morning.  There is little cosmetic damage (needs done signal repair), good almost new tires,  and receipts from a very recent piston, rings, and gasket change.  Also a ridiculous labor charge lol.  The odometer reads 24000km!!
The owner said, along with the receipts, that it needs new rollers,  which isn't an issue for me,  and that it ran fine about 2 weeks ago.  I went there this morning and we couldn't get it to start. Plenty of spark,  fuel was getting to the carb. Couldn't check the plug,  I only had my socket for my 2 stroke on me. There's air moving through the exhaust while turning it over,  and it seems to have decent compression by feel of the kick.
What do y'all think?  Should I get it?  $250 seems decent,  might be able to talk her down a bit because of it not starting...

Super 9 / From dc to ac
« on: October 27, 2015, 06:02:15 AM »
When I thought I had one in town,  both dealers were out of stock of my dc cdi.  So,  while deciding to order one or not,  a buddy with a totaled super 9 ac with the ac cdi offered to sell me the stator,  wiring harness and cdi for 100 bucks.  So I'm gonna do it,  set the other stuff aside,  and wait until I can find another cdi for it or the other mess to burn up.
Any thing I need to keep in mind with the whole swap?

Super 9 / Cdi shopping
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:09:24 AM »
Since mine burnt up, I suppose I'll need a new one.  But I've heard that the dc cdi for mine is not widely interchangeable.  It had an Eton cdi on it when I bought it, but I had the guy swap it for the original Kymco with the wire that unplugs.
Anyone have experience with this subject?  I don't want to order anything that I'm not going to be able to use. Maybe I'll look into wiring it up to AC...

Super 9 / Spark went out
« on: October 21, 2015, 04:48:46 AM »
I've been intermittently having issues with my spark,  randomly the tachometer quits or the blinker makes it act odd. After a few long,  high speed rides,  I parked it.  I had turned it off and on several times before I parked it for the night.  Went out to run to the store real quick,  it started,  but then stopped abruptly.  Took the seat off,  the plug wire was barely on the plug.  After pushing it back on it still wouldn't start.
No spark from the cap.
I've traced back to the coil,  swapped coils,  then tested the wires to the coil.  No spark.  Checked the stator.  Two of the three wires are giving voltage.  Cdi gets a constant power when switched,  but I can't seem to find any power coming out.
Any ideas?

Super 9 / Red Super 9 parts on eBay!
« on: August 05, 2015, 08:32:06 PM »
There's a slew of red Super Nine plastics  on eBay right now from a cycle shop in new York. I can't believe the prices that they want! I did break down and order the glove box, cover with lock, and ignition with key for $55. The color doesn't match mine, but I couldn't pass up that kind of price. I wish i could justify spending the $1000+/- for all of the red parts, but they're not mint. I'll most likely be painting mine in the future anyways.
Just thought I'd share.
Also, a tecnigas trek (not sure how to tell that) pipe for $160 obo shipped. I considered it but the weld patterns look exactly like my unknown type of tecnigas so I'm just gonna stick to what I've got.

Super 9 / Stripped threads on crank.
« on: July 28, 2015, 08:00:34 PM »
Well, the luxury of liquid cooled has bested me again. Earlier one of my bearing on the pump blew out pretty bad, left my roadside. Went and grabbed another one and necessities to change it. While installing I decided to put the impeller on after installing the pump onto the bike. When I tightened the impeller, I over torqued it. I figured the impeller threads or the shaft it's connected to would strip first, but apparently the threads on the crank gave up first. Now I'm dreading replacing the crank. On an upside, I'll get new bearings and seals, the 23000 kms on this one were sure to go at some point. And I'll join the ranks of the big scooter mechanics by pulling off the case splitting and crank replacement. They're already calling me scooter king around here :)
I'm about to go get an Eton beamer with a kit, pipe, carb, and intake for $240. I wonder if I'll like it...

Super 9 / Water pump fun...
« on: July 24, 2015, 06:21:39 PM »
Anyone ever encountered this? I do a lot of pop revving at times, hot dogging around. After a particular session I started hearing a grinding noise. Got it home and pulled the water pump, found this shaft to be almost rounded and the spot it goes into on the crank is mildly scarred up too... Great.
I put the old pump with the leaking seal back on for now, but I'm not sure if it will last long because it's shaft looks like it was stating to round also. I might do some more Frankenstein swapping on the two pumps to try to get a fully functional one until I can order a rebuild kit. Not even sure that the kit would have all the parts that are giving up the ghost...

General Discussion / Western NC scooting!

Had a beautiful ride today. Hit up the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopped at Looking Glass Falls, went around town a bit then a quick pit stop at a park along the French Broad River. Such a gorgeous area to ride around!
