Yager GT 200i / Re: Yager for Cannonball?
« on: November 13, 2015, 03:33:00 AM »
I appreciate the feedback and encouragement. The deal on the Yager went away. There just aren't any others close enough.  >:(
The dates and rough route have been released and it looks favorable for making this one. A Scarabeo 150 is coming home Tuesday. After some shakedown rides the decision will be made between the 'Beo and the Morphous for the trip. Hope the Aprilia can deliver like the Yager promised.

I'm with TruckerJay on that. A Morphous 250  gets me there in comfort on longer hauls. A Movie 150 releases my inner hooligan for closer rides. Yellowjacket has a 300gti and it is a splendid bike. Almost an ideal "all rounder".

General Discussion / Re: No Respect... Just no respect for scooters.
« on: October 04, 2015, 01:26:59 PM »
The group I ride with were somewhat vexed with me as I never rode a cruiser style bike. The only thing that got their attention more than the Dual Sports I usually showed up on was my Majesty. First group ride on it to Deals Gap earned their respect. While making the final assimilation to "twist and go" I had a year with a Vulcan 800. They thought I was won over, but it just didn't ring my bell. Scoots all the way since!
At 69, the scoots will hopefully keep the 2 wheel fun going a bit longer.
A "new to me" MR2 may be the vehicle that keeps the wind in my face when two wheling no longer works.

I agree. The shocks on the Movie are much better than other scoots I have had (Fly 150, Buddy 125, even PCX 125) so I will concentrate on sliders and tranny tuning.
Regardless, keep us posted on your project and progress. We are all ears.

Yellow jacket got pulled over on his gt300. Actually the officer followed him out of the parking lot after leaving the store. She appeared to be waiting for him to get on the road before stopping him. Something about a rolling stop coming out of the lot, but he was convinced she was checking for a MC endorsement on his license. No ticket, only a warning. Just another layer in the crackdown on moped abuse. She was probably thinking she was going to catch an old guy with out proper credentials for riding a highway capable bikes. This was in NC by the way.

Yep, Bin is a "riding machine". Wish they could decide on a route. That could determine if I really want to do this. Bill L now has my gt200' that might be running next year.
Question is, do I want to beat up the Movie ,the Morphous or go with the Yager?

Yager GT 200i / Yager for Cannonball?
« on: September 12, 2015, 09:45:49 PM »
OK, Yager owners. I need your opinion about the suitability of the Yager for running the Scooter Cannonball.
I am flirting with making the rally next year and am trying to narrow down a mount for it.
For those not familiar with the SC, it is a coast to coast scooter run that usually takes 10 days. Each day is about 300 to 375 miles. Mountain ranges are crossed and some long stretches across hot places are on the route. Displacement is limited to 250cc. A handicap system is applied taking age and displacement of the scooters into consideration. The winning bike  last year was a Honda  Elite 110!  Several Vespa gt200's were contenders.
On paper, the bike checks a lot of boxes that would make it a competent  entry. Fuel injection and liquid cooling are first on the list. The larger fuel tank and filler location are next. It appears the Yager has enough range to require only one fill up for most legs of the run.
If the Yager can maintain an honest 60mph it might have a strong enough handicap to contend with the 75mph Vespas. The winning Honda despite a lower top speed had an amazing handicap and the rider is a wild man.
I have a Movie 150 that is a splendid scoot with many of the pluses of the Yager but not what I consider the advantages of fi and lc.
A Yager is available close by for a price that makes abusing it for over ten days and 3000+miles acceptable.
Feel free to weigh in with opinion based on your experience with the Yager. Please, don't tell me I am looney thinking about doing this...I know I am, anyway. :o

Neat bike. I rode one a couple of weeks ago. Put it to the test with some twisty roads in the NC mountains. The "sport" mode kept the gearing down and provided more engine braking going down hill and entering the curves. Tried the "manual" shifting but went back to auto when it became aparant the tranny was smarter than me!
Sure enjoyed the 70HP when giving the throttle a whack. Wish I had the Dinero to buy it since the owner was thinking about selling it.

Looking good! I am enjoying mine tremendously. Shame they did not keep such a kick ass scooter in the USA line up.

You should come down to Saluda and Tryon for some ratting around. Give us a ping if you decide to come this way.

Modular at the very least. I have fixed a couple of jaws busted up in accidents with half and 3/4 open face helmets. We tend to lead with our chin when we have impact. See the % in the Hurt report stats.
Full face is stronger.

I found this site.  http://japan.webike.net/KYMCO/RACING150Fi/6260/mtop/
Not a lot of performance upgrades, but a few that might help.
I just changed the original rollers to DR Sliders. Used the same 13gm weight to start. Very smooth. Might have actually gained a couple of mph on top. Off line it might be a tad slower. Plans are to get a set of 12gm sliders. Will try them and also try a blend of 12.5 by mixing the two weights. Will let you know the results.
This bike is so easy to work on. Access is easy-peasy. ;)
