So I found 748x18x28 is said to be the size.  Is it safe to assume 748 is the length?

  if you want to measure your belts get a tailors tape lay the belt on the table and measure around the outside of the belt ,. I have belts that are 6 mm. different and have the same numbers,.   check the tailors tape against a steel tape, to see if they are close,

Stick with OEM belt, they will NEVER let you down!!! Anything else is crap IMHO

You hit the nail on the head Dee Dee.
I started a thread here a long time ago to record what belts are actually what lengths. It got lost quickly cause no one put in the data.

You have to find what works best, and stick with that one brand, and size only.
I still have 4-5 belts that didn't work out, Brand new, $200.00 worth.

And to make it more confusing, gettin my understanding OEM measures ID and most aftermarket, Gates Malossi etc, measure OD HAHAHA. I tried Gates once on my B&W cus my belt broke and that was all we had at the shop, it SUCKED. Rpm not right, uneven shifting, loss of top speed. When I got a new Kymco Bando i held them side by side and the Gates was much shorter, and almost 2mm thinner!!!! Right AT the service limit lol. It was the belt listed all over the internet for the bet and win 250, also listed in our western powersports catalog. I kept it for a road trip spare, but it'll never go back in by choice. Stick with OEM if you want performance. The only after market belt i use is Malossi, but that's cus I have an overrange in my zuma.

I guess my problem is that I set up my cvt to the piaggio belt,  then went back to bando and everything was all wonky,  rpms, shifting BAD, etc.  But I may be getting it all dialed in.  Weight setup change and it is in a much better mood.

It's a balancing act for sure.
If I change jetting it effects the power band, and in turn the CVT set up.

Once you get the belt, and clutch/contra spring right it becomes a matter for the rollers.
Then you change the air box... New jets, new rollers, and the contra is wrong.
Change air pressure in the front tire... Rollers again.
Now the fly settings are off.

Anyone want a free scooter? I'm buying a horse!

Hi, interesting discussion. 3 years ago I put a Bando belt in my People GTi and I experienced suddenly a performance loss, especially in acceleration. Do you guys recommend spending 30 dollars more and buy a Kymco genuine one? Is it possible that a brand like Bando (made in Japan) produces belts not exactly equal to the original one? Thank you

Buying the OEM Kymco belt insures you have the best quality AND correct size down to the fraction!
