I checked my air filter and when I removed the side panel I noticed that the end of the air filter hose was hanging and not attached to anything although there seems to be a slot (circled) where it would connect onto something. Should it be connected? Also, the foam layer of the filter was falling off as the glue holding on to the filter was barely there.

the other end of the tube is attached to the air filter box, this end is behind the tupper ware feeding in clean air ,on my downtown and frost - yager they both just hang there,.

yeah its just a snorkel to bring in fresh air

That area you circled probably has a little tab on the side panel or frame that slides thru it to keep it from rattling and flopping around. If you can't find the tab, you can just wire tie it to any place. They hide the fresh air induction hose inside to restrict as much foreign matter, as possible, from entering the air cleaner box.

Cheers, thanks for that.

On my Like the snorkel just hangs loosely behind the plastic to bring in fresh air. Seems the placement is well thought out as I go thousands of miles and the filter is as clean as the day I replaced it.
