Full reveal: I didn't always wear proper foot gear!
Too often I opted for simply slipping on a pair of leather tennis shoes when going riding.
I have a pair of tall leather work boots - but they were a pain to get into and properly laced.....so, I bailed for the sneakers sometimes.
Armored riding pants & jacket, leather gloves and helmet --- always!....but not the feet....
I decided to get my house in order and began looking for a boot I'd actually wear.
Revzilla offered these goofy ICON Stormhawk Waterproof Boots - with a unique lace system. They also have D30 armor in the ankles.
Easy - slip them on, punch the button closed and spin to snug them up. Pull the button to release and remove.
CONSEQUENTLY - I wear them every time I go riding!
With a long-time shoulder/collar bone issue (landed wrong when diving into a streambed during a mortar attack - the VA said I'd need to go to the Cleveland Clinic to get the repair)(I told the Doc - since "it only hurts if I try to raise my right hand to re-enlist" :) I'm good.
After 6 mos - I love 'em!
Even in size 14 - they're not too heavy.

I recall you getting these boots Stig. Good to hear that it’s mission accomplished and you are wearing them consistently, it makes no sense to wear the other gear and not protect your tootsies!
I’ll stick with my Altbergs, a PIA to lace up, but all day comfortable.
