box for super 8 150 help!
« on: September 15, 2010, 06:01:20 PM »
Hello good ppl.
My husband has Kymco Super 8 150. his birhthday is coming up soon and I wanted to buy for him a box for the scooter.
I found that SHAD SH 33 is the nicest one, but i am no expert. I have few questions:
1. is it a good box? for a a helmet and maybe some more junk but nothing too big
2. Do i need to buy an extra mounting kit for that? will he be able to fix it by himself or needed an expert for that?
3. Is there a good deal you know I can get it from? usually the price is around 100$ just for the box, I have no idea what kind of mounting kit I would need (if any)

thank you so much for your help. im really clueless.

That looks like a good case.  I am used to seeing GIVI
http://www.giviusa.com/cases/
I'm not sure on the mounting, but the rack on your husbands Super 8 should accommodate it.
These cases usually have one mounting bolt at the bottom.
If not, he can get the hardware he needs to fit it.
No worries.

If you take a stroll through the boards, I think you will find these top boxes have been discussed before, might give you some idea until someone can answer your questions.

Just my 2C.

I've always hated the idea of putting storage that looks like a mushroom on such a sporty looking scoot.  So once i gave up the idea of storing my helmet in the box (better options for that) i found some storage options for sport bikes that look great on the scoot.  Check out the Cortech Sport Saddlebags on Amazon.   I use the Tail Bag by Joe Rocket and will probably add the saddlebags.

Hi,

i have a Kappa 33L box on mine ... it holds my full face lid, gloves, and a thin water proof jacket with ease. Its pretty lightwieght so doesnt effect handling, and its small so doesnt look ridiculous on the super 8... there is a pic of it in my post on the eye candy section

They are a real handy bit of kit and well worth it if u use the bike for a main means of transport in my opinion! i couldnt do without it!

EDIT: Put another pic up that shows the box more clearly :)
