..thanx man, but it does need a little work...

..it's been in storage for 2 years, and i haven't heard it run yet...

..however, i do know a little of it's history, and saw it running about 6 years ago...

..don't think it was a terrible deal considering it's general condition, and the fact that it is what it is...

..a kymco with less than 7500 km...

Nice!If going with the stock jug we took 40 thousandths of the head that made me have to go from an #85 main to a #105 Just to run with pod.Fuel intake ports are pretty much open already, exaust is the bottleneck.Still waiting on machinest.Going to try to run stock carb at first if at all possible(sorta stock)Cheers!

The hard part is figuring which one to scoot!

..lol, yeah i'll be a 2 scooter family...

..my plan is to learn to build a 4-stroke, then learn all i can about the 2-stroke...

..THEN i will seriously be thinking about the scooter garage...

..i can't even start to go there with no 2-stroke knowledge...

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: art on June 19, 2010, 12:31:54 AM
Smoke is nomarl to some extent the autochoke takes a bit to settle down if fires again let it worm up. Might be a bit of moisture in the mix and who knows whats in the pipe, buy a hand full of plugs  ;D

..then i just shut it off...will not spark since...got 3 new "Autolite" NGK equivalent plugs...

..hopefully it's just a connection or a switch....fuse is good...

..not gonna mess with it much more tonite, except for charging the battery, as it started to drag toward the end...

..gettin plenty of fuel..the airbox got drenched...

..that little engine really turned up quick!!!

..think imma like this ppl once i get'r runnin'.....
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: art on June 19, 2010, 02:07:49 AM

Most likely it is full of hardened mineral 2t oil (the block) A few tanks of gas, and Sea Foam will remove it. It will be sure the rings are clear too.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 21, 2010, 10:41:38 PM
..i have oil coming out the exhaust pipe too...

..i have seafoam in the tank now, and i used the spray the other night, as directed on the can ...
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: zombie on June 21, 2010, 11:02:07 PM
You can try burning the carbon from the pipe using the oxy. side of an accetelyne torch. Heat the pipe till red, and cut down the gas until you are running straight oxy. You have to be careful as not to melt the pipe, but it puts on one hell of a sparkler show.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 21, 2010, 11:06:36 PM
...okay...umm..what??

.is that what's causing oil to leak ftom the pipe???...

..  ??? ..
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: zombie on June 21, 2010, 11:16:12 PM
Unburnt oil will collect inside the pipe. As carbon builds it will hold onto that oil. I took an exhaust from a jog engine, and put it on top of a burn barrel, till the whole thing was cherry red. In the morning the carbon was falling out. I painted it, and put it on my nc/ chopper. It must have weighed 8-10 pounds before, and maybe 6 lbs now. I saw instructions for the oxy burn somewhere, and will try to find it again. Anyway oil is a part of life w/ 2t's  "Can't ride it too long or ya smell like a lawn mower" From throw a kit.

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 12:50:39 AM
..so, first ride to work today..

..twas very enjoyable...the ppl runs a steady 45 mph indicated..

..flat, downhill, and most importantly, UPHILL too!!!

..downhill, i could drop back to less than half-throttle, and maintain the same speed...45...

..flat land, 2/3 throttle will maintain...45...

..uphill (on the same hills my a50 will drop at least 5mph) the ppl maintains a steady ...45...with some throttle left...

..so, i'm either looking at a cdi, or cvt issue here...from what i've read, there's nothing i can do to the cdi except replace it...anybody know anything different??

..i can deal with the cvt..pretty familiar with those processes..lol...

peace

Yep, two stroke oil smoke -- GOOD.  If you want it to smell really good, get some Bel-Ray.  Not lawn mowerish.  More of a mean screamin machine smell.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: art on June 23, 2010, 05:24:53 AM
Your cdi is under the front shield, should have the green wire comming out the bottom unplug and your derestricted,I liked the molossi best for the veriater, put a #85 main in and a 3/8 hole in the airbox at the front outer cover, should get you another 3 to 4 mph and a little better pick up.The stock 8.5 rollers will be good untill you do the pod and pipe.New you'd love it!
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 05:33:33 PM
..i've read that unplugging that green wire will cause the cdi to burn out...

 ???
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 09:48:43 PM
..so, i opened the cvt..the oem belt is the same length as the "stock" a50 belt...

..it ssays KYMCO  23100-KEB7-9000  BANDO...

..further observation shows that it has never ridden all the way up on the drive face..

..do i need a longer belt??

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: sidthesloth on June 23, 2010, 10:18:26 PM
Or heavier rollers? Would they put too short a belt on? unless it is another form of restriction, maybe to go with the stepped drive boss. That might explain the different belts for your A50?
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 10:24:09 PM
..i was expecting a longer belt....

..what gets my attention, is the steady 45mph indicated on the speedometer...

..like something is physically limiting top speed...

..belt length would be a likely suspect...

..if it's riding at the lowest limit of the driven pulleys, and can't get any higher on the drive pulleys...because it's too short....the scoot would run a steady top speed...

..yes??

..no??..

 ;D
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: sidthesloth on June 23, 2010, 11:28:49 PM
YES!! Go get that belt.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 11:51:57 PM
..well, it just so happens, that i have a 748-18-28 kevlar belt on the guilty...it's @ 1/2 inch longer, if you hold the belts in the position they would ride on the pulleys during top speed...
..so, i put that belt, and the NCY variator, because i like the ramp of the ncy better than the OEM..
..the Malossi ramp looks better than the ncy, but it's shot...sloppy bushing fit.....tho.......nevermind...
..along with the OEM rollers (still in great condition), and a cpl of things happened..
..two good things, and one not so good...
..not so good was i now drop speed uphill...down to 35 mph, on a really steep incline, that dropped to 40 with the oem...
..one good thing, is that the engines rpms, which were really winding out, dropped to a more comfortable sounding level...
..the best good thing, is that downhill, i hit 60 mph indicated...

..nearly crapped my pants...gotta gps this speedometer, but it was most definately faster than i've ever run th' guilty...

..wwowww....  :o

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 23, 2010, 11:58:36 PM
...so, now i'm thinking i should put the 1000 contra spring in th clutch to grab hold of that longer belt a bit better....

..keep in mind...i'm modding a stock setup..slightly......

..not sure about changing the fly springs, as i got pretty frickin' quick take-off still...might need them with the stiffer contra tho...

..what ya'll think??

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: sidthesloth on June 24, 2010, 01:45:06 AM
Depending on what top speed you want, you might be better off with the shorter belt, it seems to have the revs in the right range for hill climbing. Maybe you can replicate that with the stiffer spring/lighter rollers.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 24, 2010, 01:51:10 AM
..i believe the 1000 contra will work...and bring back the loss in flat-land speed.., and i bet if i go 1/2 gr lighter in roller wt...hhmmmm...

..but i'm pleased with the top speed...whatever it gps's at...

Try the 8g rollers.60 downhill Id say your derestricted. So your saying the stock belt is a little short. What does the 728-18-28 normaly go on,going to have to try that out, inching closer to that 100mph Ha!
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 24, 2010, 05:52:50 PM
..that belt is what i bought for my A50....the stock a50 belt is the same length as what was on the ppl...
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: art on June 24, 2010, 08:37:50 PM
I did some digging around the stock people belt is suposed to be a 748-18-28 was that what you ment to type or are my #'s wrong.A !/2 inch larger had me thinking about trying it out,or is that belt streached a bit.
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 24, 2010, 09:01:58 PM
..yes...748....duh...

..went back and changed it in that other post...

.and no, not stretched...it's brand new...
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 24, 2010, 09:06:34 PM
...i physically opened the driven face...squeezed the "oem" belt tight around the shaft...

..it would never ride to the top of the drive face of the variator...impossible to get there...too short...
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: art on June 24, 2010, 09:43:14 PM
Ya I've noticed that the marks on my stock ver.had some room to run.the next 2 sizes up on the mallosi chart are 752-19-30 with a 9mm thickness 755-18-32 with an 8mm thickness. What do ya think. Will it work?
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on June 24, 2010, 09:46:20 PM

His loss could have had him going 60 in no time.O.K. I think you have stumbled on to something here. The malossi replacment is a 61/11153 738/9/18/28 the next best match would be a 61/13501 743/9/18/30.I don't know how much difference the dagrees will make but the length should be good. The malossi side by side with the bando was even shorter! Now with the 9g roller and short belt I've got to be hitting damn near 70mph.now with anouther 3/8 to 1/2 taller gear this could get interesting! The nyc belt would be even a bit taller although I might be in danger of running it right out of the veriater  ;D anybody deliver belts overnihght  Ha! wish you were close We might be seeing some neww people top speeds. Just ordered the last one from provoscooters.Gates was the brand.

I screwed up on the post The belt that was in the people is the wrong one It needs a 23100-KCX-9000  OR a Gates pl 20601 will fit. The gates # is a kevlar belt the same as the malossi.   23100-KEB7-9000  BANDO...  is a shorter belt. I think that one is the 699 mm   The oem belt is around 33 bucks, the gates is 39 bucks, and the Malossi is 50 bucks IF you can find one. The only difference I found so far is the gates is not as "sticky" as the Malossi, and does slip some when it is "cold".

With regards to the shorter belt, would they fit those to go with the restricted drive boss. Since the variator is not going to close fully a longer belt is not needed?

Ya if you order from malossi or oem for the people 50 they give you the 699 I know I've seen the kcx for another scoot,Do you remember the model? The restricted drive boss does make sence.Got the gates on order,we'll see what happens.

Both of you guys are right. The KCX is for the People/AC super 9/ZX/Super Fever. The KEB7 fits the Agility, and some others. I learned toooo much about belts over the past weeks. Also the 669 is length... the 18.5 is width, and the 28.5 is the side wall angle.

Got the gates put on today plus the dr slider clutch and bell.ran with the 9g little weak in the mid,but once up to speed could cruise at 40 with less than an 1/8 throttle at 1/4 throttle could cruise easly with the speedo peged 1" past the 50 mark  and had a ton left its deffinatly running taller in the gears now.not enouph road here in the neighborhood, but could only pull my test hill at 40.Got to try the 8.5 next. ...dude...i missed this post...i was away for a cpl days....

..SEE!!!!...the long belt is awesome...and my scoot seemed to have MUCH lower rpms at 60...than it did at 45-50 with the 23100.....seemed like it was breathing a lot easier...

With the 9g I could get most of my gas milage back and I think i could be knocking on 80mph!Ha!If i could get the take off of a 8g and a top of the 9g It would be something. The 8.5 got me up the test hill about 4 mph quicker, but working harder when speedo is pegged. The dr slider has 2 sets of flys going to have to play with that a bit.Don't have time leaving tommarrow WITH SCOOT!

Not yet If i go that route looking for whole new system.they start at $250+ and look to have a larger coil.Have'nt looked at actual dimensions yet. Some more travel and a plush shock would be nice though. An upside down set up would be even better.Got to conserve a little cash for a bit before i get into that one.Maybe I can flip the stocker  :P

O.K. so it raises the shock?Does it offset also? The top really needs to be pushed out on mine, but both would be great. After looking at it not alot i can do on the bottem of mine stock but the top I think is a loop and could be ground a bit.

when i put the gates belt on and lost some pull but gained ALOT of top end. i thought it was just from the old belt being worn but i'm guessing its because its longer. i dont see how u all are running 8 and 9 gram rollers. i had 6 gram rollers in mine and it was perfect! i put this huge back tire on and had to lighten up to 5.6. i've been spinning and sliding and cant wear this thing out. i wanted 2 get some use out of it. what upgrades have u done to your cvt?
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...

...dre, i was also using an aluminum drive face and a 1000 torque drive spring and an NCY clutch...

..the drive face is MUCH lighter than oem, so that probably explains the 9 grams for me...

could u tell a difference when u put all that on? i dont know what i want to do to it next. im stock everything but cdi, pipe and belt and before i changed back tires i could stay past the 50mph mark like between the k and m! and get there pretty quick.

u change your reeds yet word?

I'm running the mollassi veriater,b bore kit and the dr slider clutch with the 8 1/2 g rollers 1000 rpn spring and stock dr pully flies,I need to play with these a bit more but didn,t bring them  all made slight differences.Threw all this together just before the trip and wish  i brought 9 and 10 g rollers a hand full of jets and my fatter needle jet, makeing all my power at 55mph and running to 60 for any length of time it will shut down. It's working so hard i think i'm running the fuel out of the float bowl I had my scoot tuned for cooler wet weather not 95 plus.Seems to me you should try a heavier wheight I'd try a 7.0 or a 7.5.Just did that to my brother inlaws 2002 stock pipe k/n filter shimmed the needle up(2 beer can widths) and drilled the main out to 90+and 7.5 rollers.Hey dre what is your main jet size. The big tire did throw all my stuff off had to upjet and play with the transmition. If you did the front tire also it will change your speedo 3to5mph slower(closer to true speed)it also made my mid weaker but great top.thats why i bought the more tuneable clutch and its back to the drawing board when i get home  ;)

..10 -20 days for delivery, but the reeds are on order...

..not riding any more than i have to until they arrive...

..PLUS, i'm tired of pushing this damned thing every time it breaks these 23100 belts...

..i've snapped 2 new ones...

..i think the 1000 sprng will be desirable with the 748-18-28 belt, and like art,i gotta fine tune the cvt once installed..

..but i do know that it ran past the 60 mph mrk on the speedometer, on relatively flat land with the 748...

..seemed to be a band that kicked in around 50 mph, and increased really quick, up to past 60...

Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on July 09, 2010, 01:24:59 AM
..installed the 748-18-28 belt, NCY variator with the aluminum drive face..(longer tapered drive surface than OEM drive face)...9 gram rollers and the NCY clutch and bell with a 1000 torque drive spring, on the OEM torque driver setup...

..i love this set-up with the excepton of the torque driver...

..the OEM drivr has two different pitches to it's profile...

..the NCY's driver has one gradual profile, which i think will eliminate the mid-range lag i get with the longer belt..

..imma change out the torque driver tomorrow...

..still it hit 60 mph indicated with 1/3 throttle to go...

..8.5 gram rollers, with the same other set-up, would not turn out enough to hit that top speed...

I knew you"d like the 2t,did you go to the stock spring.Mine with the 8.5gs in there was slipping the belt bad at take off then nearly wheely when it cought after the belt burned in for a few miles.I think the power we are creating is over driving the belt and variater.Might try the stocker again Do they sell a lighter spring?plus this new clutch has lots of options for adjustment.Too beat to do anything just yet!we are now in the 90s was 65 when i left.Where to begin left the shop in a mess.

..with the 8.5s and the stock spring, i too experienced slippage..the first mile or so was awesome, then performance dropped off...

..couldn't get any torque...so i changed to 9 gram rollers and the 1000 torque spring...

..take-off suffers a bit... i don't have that super-quick take-off like before..

..but remember, i'm still kinda babying it, as i still have the split reed...

..before, with the 9 gram and 1000 spring, everything felt good...

.i'm going to stay with this setup until my reeds arrive, as it kinda keeps the engine's rpms down....

I hear ya there my rpms with the heat down there were way too high liked the 9g better ,but mid suffered but could cruise at pegged with little effort and take off wasn't bad,I was making the max power this engine could handle but peaked to soon and couldn't do a damn thing about it without parts.Could still runn 50/55 with no problem but wanted to do some top speed runs on the strip. It felt to me the spring was letting it rev to high before engaging and then it hit hard.I'd like to try a malossi equill and play with the rest of the cvt,but going to run the gates till it blows!I went through 7 tanks of gas and put about 500 miles on while there think I was averiging about 35 mpg  ;D I'm still beat and suffering from the heat.I'll let ya know what i come up with whan i can move again.

Ya I think lighter  spring and after market veriater.I'm in shock 65 dagrees and wet when I left havn't seen the sun since last summer, was hopeing to come back to 70 to 80 Its 95.The dr slider clutch i have has a duell set of fly's to play with and a hand full of spring sets.If i could turn a wrench ha!
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on July 09, 2010, 11:02:05 PM
..i have a NCY variator and aluminum drive face...the NCY drive face has a different profile than the oem, which allows the belt to ride out further...the variator's roller ramps are also more gradual than the oem...

..the NCY clutch pads are wider and longer than oem, and it's clutch bell has holes drilled around it's circumference...

..i have several different fly clutch spring to try, but i'm kinda okay with the ones in the ncy clutch...

..still wondering about the oem contra spring in the ncy clutch...with 9 gr rollers...

..that's going to be my next experiment..

..just not today...lol...

I havn't seen the ncy running the mallossi I think it,s similar The dr slider and bell is sopposed to be more tunable with the 2 sets of fly's It deffinetly grabs and hooks up better than stock mayby to good is that possible ha!No doubt if I could do a damn thing right now thats next.

I didn't seem to have the problem till i went to the longer belt and the race clutch of corse.Still thinking a mallossi = would be worth a try cant find the right #s to order only got one long belt and a hand full of stockers,But need the long for that top speed some day with gps.

..if your stock drive face is like mine, then you will never get the full benefit of the longer belt...

..there is nearly a 1/4 inch of flat on my oem face, where the NCY's drive face tapers all the way out to to nearly the bottom of the teeth...leaves just enough room for the flats on the side of the belt...
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...

Ya running the mallossi, but it was a big difference from the stock belt and the longer gates cruising pegged was a breeze took a little longer to get there but was great when there and had 3/4 throttle left to play with while running the 9g.

Yes(the multivater) and dr slider clutch and bell,I think it's little heavier than the ncy.Or do i not know what a drive face is.The ramps right.I always had clutches and gears when younger.I'm still learning too.  ;D

..the drive face is the bit with the teeth..that the starter engages...

..my kodak broke...

..i'd like to show you the difference in the drive face's profile...it's significant...

..the longer belt needs the extra taper on the drive face to be effective...

Now that you mention it I don't think so,I'll have to look,(tomarrow)It did deffinetly run taller with the longer belt. You could see The stock veriater would not let the belt run to the top at all or the belt was to short.I think i get it no I don't have it,still stock, and not busting belts yet.change it out.

Ya try the stock drive face you will still get benifit from the long belt, mid is my only gripe with it set this way and will get ironed out eventualy.I'm in danger of busting the belt because of power delivery once running all is well take off is harsh.Do they have titanium belts? Ha!

I think mine the way it is will be fine once dialed.Down there I was making all the power i think this motor has just not where I wanted it to be or i need a bigger carb, but was running pretty hard at 60 would actualy shut down like it was out of gas if ran for to long, let off and would run all day at 55 with no fuel econimy.

[/quote

when i had the heavier rollers with my engine and everthing being stock and me being heavy and the HUGE tire it had no pull. I still have that stock size tire on the front. I think without going to a bigger bore the huge tire is just a bad idea! the only reason i haven't changed the tire i because i might go big bore. its just o tough stock. but i'm right at 20,000. something's got to be ready to go. and i'm still spinnin slidin and flying past 4 stroke 50's. shim the needle you lost me! i noticed you've come to the 2 stroke side wordslinger my friend!

Hey dre unless you got the carb word has,the needle jet is not tunable but there is a spring under the cap in the slide that can be forced up a bit to run a little richer with a couple shims, beer cans work great.Tried to follow your posts back, might need a refresher, but your not running an open air box and stock main jet. all our tuneing is with open air box and BIGGER JETS!!!You want to open the jets up till they sputter than drop down a hair a 95# main seems to be the best start or start drilling,That motor has some life left, you will be suprized, for us with this tuneing We have had to go up in weight to get the power back at the top end if i were to run a 6 or 7g roller I would top out so fast 0 to 40 and be working the motor at meltdown stage if you pushed any harder, might be smoking the tire and wheelying at the same time If the belt holds Ha!So I'd say bigger jets and k/n filter,if it does blow you'll need this stuff for the big bore kit anyway!Forgot what year you had seems the 99 to 2001 have a better stock carb.Word has come to the dark side, these bikes are banned in california!

i have no idea what size the jet is. i kept opening it up with torch tip cleaners. im sure i got a pretty big jet. i had it to big and had to solder and go down one. and its a 2001 BEAST! HA! I can smoke the tire now! i've probably already wore the new belt out!

the 6 to 6.5 rollers are perfcet with the trans stock. before the big tire! could smoke the tire and go way past the 50 on the speedo

i guess its time to start playing with the cvt. where should i start the clutch and bell? does the contra spring come with it? and does it have to be marossi or poloni? i looked for nyc scooter parts but couldn't find any
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...

I liked the malossi verieater over the polini for over 50 range, the polini was more preciise to 50 than kinda fell off.I'm running the dr pulley hit clutch and bell right now big improvement over stock and has lots of tuneing potential, don't know how it compares to others(I like it so far)I don't think it came with a contra, the white  spring seems to be best so far with it,then the long belt for more top.Sip has the best deals that i can find.

O.K back to that drive face,I think this is my bottleneck now.I have decent take off to just off idle with the 10g's, than seems to drag to 40 then a great hit to pegged, so my thoughts are the ramp angle or more weight dont have anything bigger than 10g at the moment, does look like belt is still slipping a bit by all the dust i'm accumulating between short test runs and cleaning it out after each time i open it,so  whats out there and a pic of your ncy would be nice if that camara is working.catch ya later got to find some bigger weights.  ;D

I have the polini in my other build liked it to 50 then kinda dropped off.Did you try the stock face,I was getting the 23100 to pegged pretty quick.Just like the idia of the longer belt Its a whole new gear range just cant quite capitalize on it yet.All the thing I'm reading are saying with the race clutch if it's slipping go to bigger weights and or Spring.I'm going to see how mutch more weight i can possibly run, than back to the contra and flies, but think ultimatly right now my drive face is an issue, sliding right past the usfull part of the face than have to play catchup till 40+ then its a dream.I'll try the weights first.

That is what i'm thinking the angle of the stock face is'nt working well with the long belt,Will try some bigger weights today.I was thinking on yours with the ncy to remove the electric starter gear, thought the top of your belt was hitting it or more weight for you too or heavyer spring. The 8.5 for me was too light maxed power at 55 mph  and no gas mileage, part of this is the larger tire size for me.

Ha! got the bigger weights today, but didn't get to play with yet,Wife wants me to do some summer time upgrades to the house(there needed),and the bug hatch this year is insane (screen doors).I'll let ya know tomarrow,i hope, the ceiling fan project is not going well yet.Is there an american made fan that doesn't suck!!!I have two from the 70's that kick ass,the new stuff is not even close and didn't go cheap.(need them to blow)Still wondering was your belt hitting the starter gear, the drive face gear or just melting down?
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on July 14, 2010, 12:37:55 AM
..with the ncy drive face, i'm sure it was hitting the starter gear...

..on the outside of the belt...

..wearing a groove, about 1/8" ftom the inner edge...

..now, i LIKE the way it's performing, even with my issues, aaaand with the bits i stated below...

..impatiently waitng for my reeds, cause i still remember dropping the speedometer a good 1/4" below the 60mph mark...

..before i snapped that first belt...

..dammit...

Pull the electric start gear I think you can still kick start, the gear just slips out, this is theory have not tried, should eleminate that problem, the smaller belt and heat should be a weight issue(slipping)I think, might be looking at that ncy myself unless there are some others to look at,I use the kick start mostly anyway. Now if we could get an upgear in the works I think 100mph is obtainable.  ;D
Title: Re: ...look out worrld...
Post by: wordslinger on July 14, 2010, 01:03:52 AM
..i'm sure it will kick...i keep that in working order just in case..........

..i ran my a50 without the starter bendix installed for over a year..

..gonna need the 95mm variator, plus some grinding of the casing around the starter, to get this belt riding high on the ncy drive face...

....i might do that later on...

I agree havn't road the s9 I see the potential just don't like the small tires,an lc in the people would be the sh**e!I have put this thing some abuse and seems to thrive on it,who would of knew,I got 4 honda's sitting here and don't think they can do what the people can.Didn't have the xz long enouph to play but the people was smoking it in stock form!Up to the 2005 models

Todays trial and trb the 12g did nothing for the mid but created a crazy hit after 40 mph no more belt dust, polishing the veriater and boss and seemed to improve the take off a little and tranny running way cooler,Bike running like crap after 55 seems to be peaking the power band again  ??? .Tried the 11g not much difference, little more mid that was about it.Tore down carb at least a teaspoon of water(thanks to a local shell station) back to chevron.Seems I'm loseing ground here with the heat long belt and stock drive face   ::) . Going to try to run all these test again with the 23100 belt then look to a new drive face. Not sure what i'm missing here, but think i was doing better with the stock set and long belt except the mid sucked.

Kinda sucks but wait till you get into the 2t you will like the simplicity of the motor. You can do a top end in less than an hour.splitting the cases a little more involved and the age old delemma since your there what do ya want to do with it.At least you got to see the power and  potential.

Ha! I know this is a terrible problem(TO MANY SCOOTERS!)They are breeding like rabbits around here.To compound the problem we are having the mildest summer in the recorded history of the state.Thought i'd move 4 or 5 easily at the beggining of the season to make room for this winters round of deals.Space to work in my garage is cramped and side yard is starting to fill up  ::) On the positive side I've had a chance to ride and compare most of the brands and models and found the Kymco brand to be a great bike for the coin, wish i started with one.Thought honda was the stuff till the kymco showed up.

A good a place as any to post this it is people related, I can't get the fan to run with the new drive face with either kickstart gear. The machining is tight bearly accepts the one that came with it. IT was milled for a 4t all else works fine. The clutch is vented hopeing for the best, went ahead and removed the bendix and am running the 749 with decent performance through the mid (not great) but around 50 a whole new top can maintain that 60 with little effort again! but seems to top a little quiker than before with 12g in it  :o  Not going to dwell on it to much because i got a new clutch face to install yet,so figure things will be changing again, was glad to see it neer what it was. Found one of my problems was the main jet I filled and drilled, some salder wore off and was sputtering at the time i thought things were going to kick in,frustraiting!!! back to running a #100 main little lean til i get the rest settled. Any thoughts on the fan? Is it needed or not, don't see any easy way to make it happen and half assing it could be fatal  ;)  The heat does not seem to be distributed evenly through the belt hotter on the outer than the inner  ???  Then those damn springs some day!!! Ha! red you say. catch ya later all

Only thing holding me back from new top speed is a lean main had to let off, don't know the top as of yet!!! but gets there quicker than before, not impressed with the 0 to 40 so much.   The theary is if you have a siezed motor or other lock up the gear will shread and allow the tire to roll. Seems they knew their motor well cause it was quite suseptable to blowing up  ;D  . That motor will be yanked and put on c.l. cheap or stripped for any usable parts(not many)  Will try to swap an 80cc aero in this winter sometime.

Hey batman, don't freak out, a reed cage like that will go into the ZX, you get a mount block with it so the cage doesn't sink into the crankcase. The cage goes into the mount block and the block bolts onto the crankcase where your existing reed block goes.
Sorry if I am a little late with this, but I have had other distractions, car, bikes, washing machine. To quote a famous singer, "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans".

Ha! The winters kinda suck, going to try to ride more this one,but can be down right depressing,
Got the 150 purring today but all is on hold till parts show up  :'(  No bearings in the stearing neck make going over 30mph a little hairy with the balance all out of wack and all must be pulled to install the new fender so only want to do it once. Got to be able to roll the thing around with all my half done projects  ::) I think i'm close on the s200.

Ha! apparently I do  ;D I don't know how i missed this when I bought it. I knew it had to come appart for the fender change but didn't relize there were no bearing at all in the bottem half  ::) Everything else looked so good I didn't consider looking closely at the rest  :D I just hope they didn't try to fix anything else  ;D

..the 01 has a MUCH bigger carb than the 07..

..they don't even use the same throttle cable, as the 01's throttle body is around 1/2"..the 07's is around 3'8"...

..the 07 and 01 throttle threads won't match up...

Slinger, You are a dog! That is the same engine as the super fever. You will be doing 60mph in no time. (for just under $1000.00) Malossi jug, 0.50mm off the malossi head, rs II pipe, 20-28 mm carb, and the cvt. Congrats Bro!

Hello my friend!  Just wanted to clarify, the People 50 engine is horizontal - the Super Fever is vertical.  Though the engines are different, they are both capable of some pretty awesome performance modifications. :)
