This is my fuel gauge when I pulled into my driveway after my ride out this morning.
Too stubborn to stop for fuel - since I have a full can of SHELL Nitro 93 at home!

Yeah, I was feeling a little dumb about 5 miles from home....

**I know some like to ride till empty to see where walking starts, but I don't do that with a fuel injected vehicle....so, I had no idea where 'empty' was going to be. :)

looks like you have a little bit of room for the needle to move before it pegs out! No problem! 8)

Yeah, but who knows how accurate this 8 yr old fuel gauge is?

Well heck, fill it now and you'll know going forward.
Kinda late to find out & specious of course, but I wonder if your replacement fuel pump has an impact on how low you can run the tank.

Spent a while with the old 125 carrying 500ml of fuel under the seat just in case. Allowed me to work out a range on a tankful. On the Kymco, I just fill up at 2 bars remaining, it’s too heavy to push far!

I could siphon some from the lawn mower fuel tank. But I'd have to elevate the lawn mower. And find a hose. I know you guys remember siphoning gas. A few pulls and then BOOM! Here it comes in your mouth and all up in the nose. You're frantically spitting gasoline while trying to put the hose end into the can or gas tank. Oh, to be young again......

Well if it's anything like my Xicting I have close to a gallon of fuel when it reads empty. I have been unnecessarily nervous several times because of it.
I do the same thing about keeping my special mixture at home. 93 octane no ethanol with 1ounce of Seafoam per gallon as a gasoline stabilizer/cleaner.
I only purchase fuel where I have verified it doesn't contain ethanol unless it's a emergency to get home.
Stig you could keep track of fuel added when your fuel gauge shows empty to know how much you actually have left.

Neil I will completely agree with the to heavy to push far, especially with a Xicting 500. The 500 drinks fuel like it's a charter member of OPEC. I still rode 12 miles on empty to get to a gas station wondering if I was going to make it.
I think it's a great idea to find out what the range is when the needle is on E to alleviate the anxiety.
My truck has 5 gallons of fuel when the gage reads empty. The Excursion has a 44 gallon tank .

Here it comes....
When in engineering school in Kansas, knew a guy who previously sold airplanes... told me no matter what the gauge says there is always a little in the tank! Then there was that bigshot, hotshot, FBO at Brown field who held nearly every rating possible who landed a 150 Cessna on I405 south of San Diego because of fuel starvation! Same philosophy as the salesman. The hotshot was NEVER known to visually check the gas in a high wing plane was seen after the freeway landing to actually borrow a ladder to check another 150!
So, Major Tom. You have diagnosed the problem. The possible solution is fuel up when she says 1/4 or whatever seems reasonable. Carry on.
Glad to hear you dint have to land her in a field so small you'd have to taker apart to getter out! Har, har!

Topping off from a gas can doesn't tell me how much I added.....and that replacement pump has been in there for 6 yrs or more. Maybe 7?
These days I make the fewest fuel stops possible, with my mask on. Fill the truck or car and gas can at the same time. Haven't used a filling station to fill my scooter in months.

Always use pay at pump option with laytex gloves. Works for me.

My GV holds 9.54 quarts (9.0L) I filled with two bars on the gauge. It took 6 quarts (5.68L) to fill. With two bars I had 3.54 quarts (3.27L) left in the tank. The GV still uses a carburetor and mechanical fuel pump.
I try not to run to low because the electric fuel pump for FI engines use the gasoline for cooling of the pump. The 250 Xciting's are FI.

I have a 1.25 gallon tank mounted to the rack for standard daily usage. I use the 2.5 gallon for 200+ mile trips.
