After I make the cut I always fill it with epoxy as well, exposed wires make me nervous.

i must be missing something here, i started with a small cut...no copper wire, larger cut....still no wire, widened the cut to a massive gaping chasm......still no wire, wtf?!?

cdi still works btw  ;D but no change to the revs or speed (not done boss yet btw)

i did notice on the back of the unit their is some exposed circuit board that looks like its asking for something to be done to it.....any ideas

Not much left of that CDI  :D

Mine had no wire in the centre, it was more to the right, i cut about 1cm in from the edge.

It is a genuine Kymco CDI i take it? If it is then it should have a wire in there somewhere  :-\

Good luck  :)

i have no idea, i bought the moped for £100 and its been through a few owners i think so it may well have been changed for non gen but it looks legit

anyhoo unless i start hacking round the other sides theirs definitely no copper wire on this end (only metal is that aluminium plate)

:o :o I would just leave it i think. If you didnt find it after all that then you never will  :o :o

Maybe you missed it? Or it is a non kymco one, looks like a kymco tho to me?

Pity you dont have a tach to see what rpm its making. Uncut should be 7000-7500 rpm, cut will be 9000 rpm. I know mine does 9000 cks i DO have a tach on it. See what speeds you get after the boss and main jet, you can either buy a chinese derestri ted one cheap or buy a race one if its not giving you full rpm.

At least the weight loss from losing half the CDI will maybe speed you up a little now  :D

omg you guys thought I was bad I would never hack away at a cdi like that. you only need a hack saw size cut to find it.................if you go deeper then the blade its self you should hit the wire that needs cut...

@streido, lol yeah weighs less now, are there any guides on doing the jets btw, ive no idea where they are or where to start but im good at following guides (unless the damn copper wire doesnt exist :P)

@Skippy, i am really tempted, it would be nice if there was a pic somewhere of the board before it had been covered in the rubber stuff

@blue, its just a load of rubber resin, nothing to worry about, end of the day if i bugger up the cdi ill just have to drop a few quid on another

Dont know if you saw this before but i made up a guide a while ago for derestricting? Theres a vid showing some guy swapping a jet on a different scoot, the principle and general way to do it is the same tho for our A50's. You can also search youtube if you want more vids before you do it. Its pretty simple and basic to do tho really, just a bit daunting the 1st time. Make sure you get the right jet, 1st one i ordered was wrong, shops mistake, not mine. You need a keihin jet with the M5/5mm thread.

Heres the guide in case you havent seen it. If you get stuck just ask, someone'l help out.  :)
