2 Questions.
« on: March 04, 2013, 09:53:13 AM »
I decided to pick up my new GTI300 early so I can start to work on it now. I have two questions for the forum members

         1. Dr. Pulley sliders. Members suggested I go with 14gram sliders. I need to know the complete size (_ _ x 14gram) to order them. Also need a
recommended site to buy them from.

         2. I wanted a removeable top case with a back rest. I bought a Shad SH40 cargo case. The question is if anyone knows of a adaptor kit to mount
it, or does the universal plate have to be modified. (Just gotta scoot article on mounting a Shad 48 topcase on a GTI300)

Dr pulley size: 20x12mm, 14gr worked great in my DT300.

I ordered 4 times from these guys, no issues, highly recommend them:
http://www.buggypartsnw.com/

Forget the web shop, contact them by e-mail to check if they have them in stock.
I paid with paypal all 4 times.

Your topcase might fit on the carrier on the back, maybe just need longer bolts.
You'll have to try to see, but shad DOES make a topcase mount that's sure to fit:
http://www.shad.es/en/shad-world/products/fittings/kymco/people-gti-125/c12mar11mod437/

Backrest for your SH40 is model "D0RI60", it fits on SH37, SH40, SH40 cargo, SH45 and SH49.

Cortez  Thank you for the quick and accurate reply. It's great to have folks with your knowledge as members of this forum

MrMike: I cannot help you with the sliders as I keep mine all stock on my GTI300. I did write down those Dr. Pulley sizes for future reference.

I can help out on the Shad top case scenario (somewhat) I know for a fact, that if your Kymco dealer purchases the Shad 40 Liter top case from Kymco (not Shad direct), the backrest comes standard from Kymco. I bought a Shad 33 liter for my Super 8 150cc scooter down in Florida (I keep it @ my parents home whne I come down for a visit) from the dealer & it saved me a few bucks.

The only SHAD topcase that comes with a backrest is the top of the line SH50.

This one on the SH33 is a SHAD backrest, not a Kymco backrest (they actually make backrests that
don't go on the topcase but the scooter itself) and if you got it with the topcase you should thank
your dealer, it's a an optional extra that costs around $40.

You can also add colored lids on the topcase for another $40 or so on any SHAD topcase other then
SH26.

Cortez: In all due respect....My Kymco dealer told me that "all" Shad Top Cases purchased thru Kymco comes with the backrest standard! That's how Shad provides Kymco/Shad with their Top Cases.

It saved me like $50.00 overall vs. buying the Shad 33 by itself & scoring the backrest on my own. I called my local dealer (20 minutes ago) here in MA. (Cycles 128 in Beverly, MA.) & he just confirmed the same thing. So...If you buy the top case thru the Kymco dealer, the backrest comes with it. Do you live the USA?

That's new and market specific, as I already said.
New Kymco scooters will be arriving without SHAD markings on the topcases, there'll be a KYMCO badge on the case.

No, I don't.
That's why I said it was market specific.

Kymco made a deal with SHAD some time ago and will be supplying some of the scooters with preinstalled topcases now, like
they did with the GTI before and Agility City, but now it's gonna be a SHAD case, not the plasticky cheapo one they gave away before.

KymcoUSA was already importing SHAD topcases BEFORE this deal between KYMCO and SHAD was made, so in USA, any combination
is possible and it's probably down to the importer's good will.

It might even get in the way, depending on the angle it was installed at.

My GF doesn't like the backrest on the SH50, it pokes her in the back, but it's not parallel with her back,
so that's the real issue here.

GTi was previously supplied with these topcases:

Cortez...Are you refering to top caes that "already" comes with Kymco Scooters (i.e. GTI300, Like 200i etc? Here is the US?) If so....That's not what I'm refering to @ all. Here is the USA...If you purchase a Shad (branded) top case thru Kymco...they all will all come with a backrest standard (or least all that can acommodate one) That's a Shad backest OEM, not an aftermarket one. I'm sorry....I am not making myself clear here?

Yeah, I understand.

I'm just stating that that's the importers choice, not what the topcase actually looks like if you purchase it
somewhere else. People will look at these pictures and posts and assume they'll get the backrest when in
reality you're more likely not to get it.

Just like the colored top lid or the extra brake light.

I just got my 20x12 14g sliders from buggypartsnw.com. On my postal scale it shows them at 10g each, but all 8 at once show 110g. That is 13.9g each. Why would the total weight be different ? I'm assuming they are 13.9g because that's what I ordered, but I wanted some input before I install them.

 :o

Either your math is off, or the scales.. or your post.. since they should be 20x12, not 20x8.. and
6 of them, not 8.

:oMy bad they are 20x12. When I talked to the guy at buggypartsnw.com, he asked me if the variator had 6 or 8 rollers. I don't have the scooter yet so I did not know. He came back and said I have 8 and that is what he sent me. So I should have 6 sliders that are approximately 13g each. Correct?  If so and I get an accurate weight of 14g on these sliders I have, can I just use 6 of these or are they the wrong size?

20x12, 14g each is what most are using.

I was about to order 13gr, but then got a different variator instead.
You'd get more revs everywhere with those but it'll still work well.

What concerns me is that you maybe got 8 weights 10.5gr each, which is about the same as 6 weights
14gr each.. that would explain why your scales don't say 14gr. If that's the case, return them.

I haven't heard of a 8 weight People either.

If they're 20x12mm, they'll work what ever the weight is, but if they're just 10.5 grams each, you'll have
the engine bouncing off the limiter.
