2018 Kymco Xciting 400i ABS
« on: July 11, 2018, 09:32:57 AM »
Hi! I had an Agility 50 for a year, and upgraded to the new Xciting 400i.
Already dumped 200 miles on it in the first day, it’s absolutely incredibly.

However I really need a huge top case with backrest and a touring windshield.
Any help finding these things?

Most popular choice for both are Givi (somewhere Kappa) around the globe.
Those 2 brands should be available locally wherever you live.

Givi's V47 looks sick on the XC400 (and on the AK550), but I'd go balls to the wall and just get
the biggest one that exists, the Maxia.

Puig makes a sharp looking V-Tech windscreen for the XC400 also.

The Givi looks good and sets a good standard for top cases. But I'd like to add for consideration the Shad SH58X which is nice looking, adjustable(46/52/58L), and unfortunately a bit expensive.

Wow... I have an '18 X400i, and I've never really given any thought to adding a Top Case, so I can't be of any assistance here. I can tell you that if you add a windscreen, be sure that it doesn't tip the mirrors. Mine did, and I had to add extenders, because I wasn't at all confident in my ability to trim down the sides of the windscreen. I have enough space under the seat for whatever I usually carry (my briefcase for work) and that's all I ever put in it, save for the occasional odd bit from the grocery store.

I don't think there is a mount plate available yet for the X400i, because it's so new in North America. You might try Taiwanese or Asian Kymco groups on social media for help.
Two things to consider...
1) The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese.
2) Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.

If things go my way, I should have my XC400 this coming week.
Looking forward to your input on the Shad Alexis as this is what I'm planning.

Christmas in July, I'm  hoping  8)

I should get it sometime this week, I’ll let you know!
I’m also taking the 400i on a road trip to Baltimore next week, so here’s hoping!

Could I ask for some feed back from you 400i owners?
How is your mpg on the 2018 model? (city/country roads/hwy)
Anything you found +/- that you didn't expect or very varied from published specs?
Anyone do over 200 mile trip yet and have opinions on it for touring?
Vibration change that may be surprising under any situation/condition?
Has anyone tested with a pillion?
Update/changes for comfort?
Accessories? (anxiously waiting for that Shad topcase report and pics).
Compared to any other scoot you've ridden? (I'm a Silver Wing owner and will keep it as her sister).

After several weeks of searching, I found a dealer that isn't advertising, but has one sitting on the showroom floor. I got to find time to get there and at least sit on it.
Driving my spouse crazy with my antsy anticipation.

honestly I seem to get about 150-200 miles per tank.
I take a 150+ mile ride nearly everyday, and it's FANTASTIC! and I do ride with a passenger as well, they're very comfortable too.
and compared to my Agility 50 4t, it's night and day, I loved riding it, but the speed and comfort were very lacking.
Now I can go for hours and just, enjoy the entire experience.

Alrighty, Got my new girlfriend (as my wife calls my bikes).
Smooth for a small maxi. Too much vibration just before closing the throttle or right after opening it, but everything else smooth with the engine.

A bit tall in the saddle, but I realize that is for the extra height in the storage. I wonder if it is the reason for the good lean angle too?

80 miles to first fuel bar drop. Rode 108 miles and she dropped down two bars. Guessing the last three drop a bit faster.
Like the sound. Has a backfire passing 30 mph on deceleration.
I really love the lay out of the dash. So easy to read and focus.

Disappointed in the 1.25 amp accessory socket. Should have been at least 5 amp. Time to add another one on the dash/console.
Anyone with electrical knowledge know if it would be safe to just up the fuse that small amount?

I love the mirrors wide view, but as with almost all scooters, they are too close in. Problem is the wiring for the turn signals when moving or extending them.
She looks right at home in the garage with the Swing!!!!!.

Didn't get home until 21:30.
Took the freeway home, but exited every other ramp to do the varied speed thing without aggravating fellow motorist.
Took a few surface roads on my every 3rd exit.

They had the Burger 400 and I gave her a few looks and sat on her several times before finally deciding. The only thing I could justify for spending the extra $2k was the storage.

Anywho, thanks for the feedback.

I got a copy of the shop manual section 14 with all the torque specs. I asked for a copy of the shop manual for changing belts and tires. The mechanic printed off section 14 and said this is all you will need for doing that part yourself.

So late, I didn't even get pics yet  :-[

Thanks for your report.
Enjoy!
What was your out the door price?
Have read that Burgman 400 owners have been more than a little interested in this new Kymco. In the States, we don't have much to choose from in 400's...

OTD was $7102.
I had a lower offer from another dealer but Kymco didn't ship it on the order.
Got tired of waiting and paid the piper.
