Interested in hearing more about “happy with the results”.  How did sliders change the ride?

Or never did.

Terrific looking scooter.  Kymco’s version of the Liberty?

I can act crazy enough to get them to at least call police

A video of that would be entertaining.

I have Progressive insurance and roadside assistance, which I added after getting a flat on the Rebel 20 miles from home.

Have used it 5 times in 5 yrs, quite satisfied w it.  And pleasantly surprised they haven’t raised my rate after using it that many times.

I read that the 1st belt will get 10-20% more miles than subsequent belts, even if oem.  Don’t remember the explanation, only that it made sense.  My limited experience backs it up.

Since then I have come closer to hitting some large birds than I have deer.

I’d swear birds play chicken on the roads, seeing how close they can cross in front of oncoming vehicles—especially 2wheelers.

Imagine them gossiping at the end of the day:  “I crossed this close in front of a scooter, you should have seen the look on that guys face!”

Cheaper than JB Weld, but better?
Good to know in pinch, though.

Technical | How To / Re: O2 Sensor trouble
« on: March 11, 2024, 03:10:22 PM »
The sensor was coated in white soot.  Whether due to all the miles over time or its recent malfunctioning that maybe caused the scooter to run to rich (or lean), I don't know. Soaked it in kerosene for 4 hrs, then let it dry overnight.  Looks much cleaner.

Disconnected battery to reset the engine light, but "O2 sensor circuit abnormality" still flashing.  Also code for "ignition circuit abnormality" is flashing, which I thought I fixed by cleaning the brake switch that hadn't been working  (it is now working--but engine light still flashing).  Does it typically take a while for the engine light to reset?

Recently removed the muffler twice (tire change and later to check for leak).  Did not disconnect the O2 sensor, there was a bit of stress on the cable while the muffler was sitting off to the side.  Read yesterday the sensors can be fragile, wondering if stress on the cable damaged it?  Connections look ok, no visible damage.

Thinking I should order a new O2 sensor, unless someone has other ideas.  Don't mind the $130, but if it can be avoided...
In the future I will disconnect the sensor before removing the muffler, that's for sure.

Engine code is saying “O2 sensor circuit abnormality”.
Scooter starts, idles and runs well, however mpg is down 10%.

What is the typical lifespan of an O2 sensor?
Scoot is 6 yrs old w 31,000 miles.
Is it likely in need of a new O2 wire?

When you cut through a tire w a hacksaw or angle grinder, you see how tough of a carcass they have.

Yes, valve adjustment done 500 miles ago.  Not sure if the code started flashing before the adjustment.
Are you thinking an improper adjustment would be the problem?

Plug is an Iridium (following in your footsteps).  It's 4 yrs old, wouldn't think it's the issue, unless it has vibrated loose?
But scooter starts right up and idles strong, and runs smooth and quiet for the most part.

Only thing I found on google search was faulty ignition coil (in cars, anyway).

Getting a code for Ignition Circuit Abnormal on the Cali Classic 200i.
Anyone know what to check?   MPG has recently dropped 10%, and engine has coughed or stalled a couple times.  Idle seems good and scoot runs well aside from previously mentioned minor issues.

Don’t know if codes are standard for all scooters, but mine if showing 1 long light filled by 1 short light.

2018 efi w 31,000 miles

General Discussion / Re: Anlas Winter Grip 2 Tyres
« on: January 12, 2024, 12:43:42 PM »
For those facing high $$ to have new tires mounted, it’s not difficult to do w proper tools and technique.   And I’m the mechanic from hell, although much improved after 5 yrs of trial and error.

Motion Pro bead breaker tire irons, tire lube and heat (from  sun or heat gun) made the process pretty easy.  At least on the Cali Classic.  Rear Wheel removal on the BV 350 will be more involved, will find out this week as I do the first tire change on that bike.  The Rebel was a bit of a bitch due to being tuned tires—threading the nozzle through the rim was by far the hardest part.

Know cost wasn’t part of Neil’s original post, but wanted to offer this as encouragement to saving high shop fees.  If I can do it, you guys surely can.

How about this stuff?
TURTLE WAX SLICK GLASS CLEANER AND REPELLANT 53844
Stig

I might try it on our windows, as our house has no soffits or eaves, so every time it rains the windows get water spots.
