General Discussion / Need Help with kymco k-pipe 125 2017
« Last post by KymcoRider2313 on May 09, 2024, 05:35:06 AM »
Ok so I'm having an issue with my kymco k-pipe 125cc. I haven't really modded anything much on the engine side of it besides an exhaust but I'm having issues where I feel the bike jerk and feels like it slips when im already engaged on the clutch and im going up in speed. I'm like mid 5000 RPM and the bike jerks this is like 3-5 seconds after letting go of the clutch and throttling up. I'm suspecting maybe the clutch is going out but I wanted to make sure first before going out and replacing parts I prob dont need to replace. Also on top of that I legit cannot find a single place or website that sells kymco clutch assembly's. I tried searching everywhere for the last hour or 2 for one and only one I can find is a used clutch from france and the dudes charging $90 for shipping and on top of that the $50 for the clutch. its stupid to go through all that for a used clutch. Please help me. :'(

Back up, please.
Do you hear the pump begin to run when you turn the key on?

(One thing you can do - as an alternative to reading the often wild and prejudicial responses from the internet/forums  - is to purchase a subscription to www.cyclepedia.com for your model scooter, and start a service ticket with one of their expert techs! They wrote the Kymco service manuals for KYMCOUSA)

A recommendation for dealing with gas which has sat in a tank for more than a month or two is to fill the remainder of the tank with fresh gas....and ride it!

Obviously ethanol gas is not killing fuel pumps in fneijts' LIKE in 72 hours.

What is the voltage briefly at the pump connectors when the key is turned on?
No voltage?...
look at 10 B (10A)
suspect fuel cut-off
suspect ECU.

Good voltage at the connector and don't hear pump start to prime? Bad pump.

Spoke with a Highflow tech on the phone. He said that their pumps, which match the appearance of the KYMCO OEM pump - are pretty much universal for all kinds of vehicles, incl. boats, motorcycles, etc. They provide sufficient fuel pressure to modern EFI systems. The electrical resistances are most often the same.

I know that I've been using a Highflow pump (sold for Yamaha motorcyles) for 10 yrs in my LIKE200i - and it works great.

The Highflow tech agrees that your issue sounds electrical - not fuel related.
You are buying which brand pump? Paying how much?

Good Highflow is @ $85

Hmmmh, sounds mystical..?
-pls take the pump out again and check whether it works on top of your fuel tank, not inside mounted
-if yes, pull on cables during running, maybe a further cable is faulty
-always start with testing/renew fuses
-try this with all your pumps

Agility 125 / Re: Bogs down at about 35 mph
« Last post by JJJoseph on May 08, 2024, 09:18:41 AM »
Hello,
Recently my agility 125 dropped out while riding. It starts, idles fine, but when I give it a turn of the throttle it bogs down and chokes. I thought it might be the CDI but I had a new spare and tried it and nothing changed. It runs smooth if I feather it up to 30-35 mph then it bogs down. I cannot detect any type of vacuum leak either. Gas is clean, got a new plug wire, new CDI, anybody got any idea?
Don't know if this is useful, but an old stator will cause your motor to repeatedly "bog down" at constant cruise speed. Just slightly, but enough to be annoying. You'll need a flywheel puller to get at the stator to change it. Takes about an hour to do the change.

There's enough information on failed Kymco Like 200s here on this website to keep folks occupied for the next 10 years.  The Like 200i fuel system is the most common Kymco failure by a mile!  This common, repeatable failure might be likely due to ethanol-gas, but more research needed.  But it's certain that one should never store a m/c (or a boat) with ethanol-gas in the tank. That will create downstream problems. I run my Kymco on boat gas to avoid ethanol, but not all riders have access to boat gas or av-gas. Airplanes can use car-gas in certain operations, but absolutely never with ethanol for this reason. The internet is full of free information on ethanol and fuel pump damage.

Hi Stig and Ruffus,

Thank you for your replies.
My scooter is a 2017 Like 200i.
Both times I bought a complete in-fueltank replacement unit including filters.
It was working on the bench and was also working when just installed.
I also recharged the battery on the bike and it was full
I have not checked fuses but checked power on the lines after the fuel pump failed and was working OK.
I have solderfed the wires to the fuel pump and housing on the bench and used exisdting plugs to reconnect.
What throws me is that it was working  once just installed, so assume all wiring and installation was OK. However the fuel pump was dead again first next day, the second time after 3 days.
