Hi guys need your help!
I want to check my valve clearance and stripped all the tupper ware to get to the head, removed the tappet cover bolts and now i cant remove the cover as there is a cross member in the way on the frame.
I even took the bolts off on the shocks to tilt the engine to no avail!!
Dont tell me I have to remove the petrol tank as well???
Am I missing something?

Xciting 500 / Long distance ride on xciting 500 without restrictive washer
« on: November 09, 2010, 05:28:23 AM »
Last weekend I took out my xciting on a 700km trip.
I had previously removed the restrictive washer between the variator as reported earlier.
I drove on a average speed of between 120kmh and a max of 150kmh (thats on gps...not speedo)
I still had 500rpm left on the top end speed although i couldnt redline it?? had a head wind!
My fuel consumption was not great! 13km per litre.
The bike handled well and I have no complains accept that I had to stop regularly for petrol.
I will open up the cover to do a belt inspection, but I am sure I will find everything in order
I have now done 7500km

Xciting 500 / no Crankshaft hole Cap
« on: July 06, 2010, 06:06:19 AM »
Hello Guys! I have a problem with my Xciting! Want to check my valve clearance but the timing hole cap is there to see the "T" mark but no Crankshaft hole! How am i going to turn the engine to get it to TDC?
The only thing i can think of is to remove the sparkplug so there is no pressure and then try and turn the engine at the camshaft at the gear on the timing chain.
If someone has a better plan please let me no! Thanks

Xciting 500 / main jet on xciting 500
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:57:49 AM »
ive noticed since i bought my xciting that if i ride full throttle the scoot actualy doesnt want to perform and if i close the throttle a little it picks up speed! Well last night i opened the carb to check the main jet and it has a 118 in there! acording to the manual it should be a 108 or even a 98
I am at high altitude so iam going to try a 98
i have noticed that the xciting was also very thirsty and got about 12km per l
I also removed the spark plug and found a NGK CR8EK in there...it has two electrodes jobs?? looked on internet and found no info on that. Replaced it with a CR8E ( The old plug was also carboned black confirming that the scoot was running to rich)

Xciting 500 / oil light flicker
« on: January 08, 2010, 10:52:46 AM »
Hello. My name is Andre! new to this forum and Kymco xciting 500
I have noticed that if i brake hard the oil light flickers for a few seconds.
I gather that its the oil that moves forward and therefore starving the oil picup of oil??
Is it normal? should i worry? the scooter has 1600km on the clock!
Very happy xcept small things like speedo accuracy etc.
