Post by: dudley on April 11, 2011, 03:51:19 PM
what are the clearances per manufacturer.
i set mine to .004 inches in and out, but some people have suggested .005 out?

Does it run well the way that you have it?
Did it make any difference in how it runs after you adjusted the clearance?
It sounds like you are within tolerance with either.

I wonder if you found a difference between the two settings

I set my People 150 at .004 in and out. Dont think it would hurt to set the exhaust at .005 if you want. I just go with what the specs call for.

I just checked my valves after 7500 miles since the last check.  I know it's supposed to be done every 2500 miles but I'm Lazy.  The exhaust valve hadn't changed but the intake had loosened up slightly so I adjusted it.  I also replaced the spark plug.  The old one looked fine but I replaced it anyway.  25,500 miles on my Super 8 now.  BTW I left my Exhaust at .005 because I prefer to be in spec or slightly loose.
