Greetings to you all. Question: are the rear brake pads on the DT300 the same as the GTI 300? (non ABS model)

Downtown 300 / Re: belt size DOES MATTER!
« on: October 13, 2023, 11:39:20 PM »
Went to replace my belt today after yesterday's ride resulted in some late ride shuddering, and what I thought was a possible clutch problem due to the bike not wanting to behave at stop lights, it just wanted to keep going. I just checked that belt last weekend and it looked fine, but not now. Glad it didnt break on me and I got home, running a few red lights and stop signs..... :-X

Clutch looks good, no loose material or parts, shoes look ok, but the belt is missing about 7-10 teeth.

Thought I had 2 belts in reserve but when I went to install it there was a problem with the belt seating into the pulleys and had the hardest time getting variator plate back on. Then I remembered that these two belts came from a chinese supplier and like most stuff from there, not quite up to specs.

I believe the DT 300i requires a 24mm width but the ones from Hornet were 25mm.....makes all the difference, and when I went to ebay today to find a replacement, many are selling those replacement belts with the same 25mm widths....and claim its the right one! Have tried locating and sizing a Dayton and Gates brand but no cigar. Kymco OEM are almost double the price of generic but worth it if you cannot use the generic.

BEWARE! 25mm will not work! Wish we had a better supplier here in the states but we don't, Kymco USA is terrible about replacement parts. Fortunately I've become good friends with a supplier in Taiwan and though shipping takes a bit longer, I give him my part number, he gets me my part!

Curious to know what was the part number? I got a message saying that the part number has changed. Hope he didn't send me a 25mm belt.

Does anyone know if anything available for this scoot? Looking for something a little more beefier and rugged.

People GT 300i / Re: Variator spacer (washer) removal
« on: May 22, 2023, 06:46:00 PM »
I wouldn't attempt that. It's there for a reason! Critical to the alignment of the variator and back clutch. I presume something would get chewed up really fast ie the belt and crankshaft bearings would come under tremendous stress. Try different shaped sliders like the Dr Pulley or Tech Pulley Flying Roller to achieve the same you have mentioned.

If you don't mind sharing, what are the part numbers for the exhaust and where did you purchase it?

Did it bolt straight on with no mods?
It's not quite a direct fit. Took the scoot to a garage to have the bracket altered ever so slightly to fit the GTI.

I am considering upgrading my 2012 stock exhaust and I would appreciate the info. Thanks.

You'll be very happy once it's fitted.

Downtown 300 / Re: X-Town 300 -Shock Absorber Question #2
« on: July 25, 2022, 02:54:31 AM »
Are there any aftermarket shocks for my 2011 DT300 that`ll make the ride less stiff and choppy?

The Honda SH 300 is a direct for the Downtown and the GTI from what I'm told. Do a search on ebay for SH300 shocks and you'll find loads of options. They can get up to the high hundreds $$$ for a good set.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I got away clean. Just about anyway. Another week of riding, I would have had to replace disc for sure.

Hi guys,

At what stage would you say to replace the actual disc on my rear wheel? Brake pads wore thin and I didn't realize til I heard the dreaded scrape/friction noise.
