Have you looked at the ECU to see if it is original?  Have you removed the CVT cover to see if changes have been made there (variator, springs, weights, drive boss, etc.) ?   Has the carb been replaced?

I have removed the left side cover which has clearly been off before as it has an incorrect seal on it rather than a gasket.  I havent taken the variator off yet but how can I tell if the variator, springs, weights, drive boss etc have been changed?  That is what I really need to know - what parts are likely to have been changed to get it to do 45mph.

IN the end I am not necessarily wanting to get it back to exactly 30 mph but something around 35 or lower would be good.

I have an Agility 50 which is de-restricted and I am wanting to re-restrict it, and I wondered if someone can give come more information on the mod which de-restrict it so I know what I am working back from.

I understand that you put heavier weights in the variator so it moves the pulley plate further in and therefore effectively increases the gearing but can you tell me what the stock weigh for the rollers for the 30mph restricted bike is?

Also, I understand that the upgrade kits have a different drive roller.  How does it differ from the standard one?  Does the standard one have a design which prevents the pulley plates from coming too close together which isnt on the upgraded one, such as a step in the outside diameter?

FInally, I understand that a mod to the ECU is supposed to help.  How much difference does that actually make.

Are there any other changes?

Thanks

Agility 50 / Re: low speed

I just bought a Kymco agility 50cc 4t and the moto is really slow. It was possible to cut the limitator cable? it is the blue/purple cable? I am including a picture to confirm if this is the cable to be cutted

Allegedly you can get a bit of extra speed using a modified ECU or by cutting a wire in a stock ECU but to get a decent amount fo extra speed you need to make sure mechanical changes as well.  What year is your bike?  I have a 206 for my son and I am looking to go the other way - it si unrestricted at the moment and does about 45, and I am looking ot get it back to 30.

Title says it all.  What to re-restrict the bike so need a stock boss.. Wondering if someone who has de-restricted their wants to sell the stock parts (the standard rollers and original jet would be useful too)

This off the internet search for Agility 50 wiring diagram.

https://tops-stars.com/wiring/kymco-agility-50-wiring-diagram/attachment/kymco-agility-125-wiring-diagram-kymco-agility-125-service-manual-regarding-kymco-agility-50-wiring-diagram/

Thanks but I really want to know the voltages I should be getting and whether AC or DC, as I am surprised that the lights are getting AC (that is the ignition live lights rather than the indicators and brake lights which are fed from the battery rather than the generator).

Agility 50 / Need help with electrical problem

Can someone confirm the voltages which they get on the input to the regulator / rectifier and also on the output to the battery and to the headlights?

The 2006 Agility 50 which I recently got to sort out for my son had all the bulbs in the headlight circuit blown.  I have replaced them and the capless side lights are fine but the headlight blew within maybe 30 seconds as did the main beam.  Havent put the tail light in yet.

When I disconnected the plug to the regulator and checked the voltage coming from the generator is was like 35V AC at tick over and went upwards from there when revved (up to 50+ volts).  The DC output to the battery is like 14V at tick over and to the light circuit is circa 14V AC at tick over, which rises when revved, so it seems this is getting too high and blowing the bulb.  Does this inout volktage from the generator sound correct and hence does the regulator sound like the problem?  Is it right that the headlights are running on AC?

Thanks

Agility 50 / Re: Rectifier location

Thanks guys. Hoped it was on steering column as less bodywork to remove, but nothing! Will follow the wiring.

ON my agility 50 is it behind the front bodywork near the horn.  Black unit with fins on it and a white connector with 4 terminals (and 5 wires - 2 wires to one of the connectors).  It is bolted onto a bracket.

Agility 50 / Re: Agility 50 how to remove rear light to replace bulb
« on: August 30, 2021, 08:11:09 AM »
Going by memory here.  I think mine (2011) had just 2 screws retaining the lense. Could be someone  applied a glue or sealant.
Can't remember bulb # but it was a common 2-filament automotive bulb available at most auto parts stores.

Thanks.  looking at it, it looks like it might be enclosed by the side panels but it would seem odd to design it to have to remove those to change the bulb.  Maybe I will try and pull a bit harder.  I will post a picture so you can see if it looks the same as yours

Agility 50 / Agility 50 how to remove rear light to replace bulb
« on: August 29, 2021, 08:49:48 PM »
Can anyone give me some pointers on this.  There are two screws in the rear of the rear lens but when I remove those the unit still doesnt want to come out.

Also, I assume the instrument cluster has a back light, and if it does how do I remove it to change it and what bulb does it have?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, they cut a wire (s) to derestrict them.
Stig

So if I reconnect that wire it should revert the ECU side of things at least even if it doesnt take it back to 30mph?

Replacement of a smooth boss would likely not restrict the scooter enough to  drop top speed from 45 mph to the desired 30 mph.  There is more going on here.

I will have a look at the drive boss.  How much extra mph would a modded ecu give?  The one in there looks like it is an original one but it is taped up suggesting it has been tampered with.

Cheapest de-restriction would likely have been installation of a smooth drive boss.  Have you checked to see if this has been replaced?

No I haven't.  The bike does circa 45 mph.  The ECU looks like it is original part from the part number on it but it is taped up with insulating tape so looks like it has been tinkered with.  To check the drive boss is that a case of taking the side casing off?  WHat should it look like?

BIke starts and rides well.  ISsue with the headlights but that seems to be down to the rectifier / regulator.

Would a smooth drive boss give it the sort of speed I am seeing?

Hi,

Apologies if this is a newbie question but just bought a 2006 Agility 50cc which is unrestricted and I want to restrict it back to 30mph as it is for my son when he turns 16 in afew months and at least to start with want him only to be able to go 30 mpg.  Is it just a case of getting a standard ECU and pluggin back in as it does look like the one in there is non-standard.

Or is there a way to modify the one in there to restrict it?  I have seen on ebay there is a variable one.  WOuld that be one I can switch between restricted and unrestricted mode?

Finally, I have found a second hand standard ecu which has May 2012 date on it.  Would that work in a 2006 Model?

Thanks
