General Discussion / Saw a bear tonight while on the scoot
« on: June 28, 2014, 10:59:24 PM »
I just got back from a ride through the Great Swamp Wildlife Preserve in NJ and while worrying about running deer crossing in front of me, what do I see?

I see a big black bear on the side of the road.  I slowed down and then decided not to stop until I got a little past him in case he tried to make friends with me.  I watched him until he ambled back into the woods.

It's the first bear I've seen in the wild so close to where I live.

Nice ride tonight.  :)

General Discussion / Sheesh, why can't Harley riders just be nice?
« on: October 15, 2013, 05:13:01 PM »
Well, some are.  I'm married to one.  :)

Today, I rode up to Washington Rock in Watchung, NJ to see the view and a man walks over to ask me what kind of mileage I get on my DTI.

I tell him and then he proceeds to go on and on and on about the merits of a Harley and how they are the ONLY bike in his opinion.

I did not feel the need to defend myself accept to say, why can't I ride what I want and why should you care?  So he proceeded to tell me for a while, how awful my scooter with it's big rear is, among other insults.  LOL!

I finally just stopped responding to him and he finally left.

I drove off and enjoyed the rest of my ride on this beautiful day.

Somewhere in this forum someone mentioned an app for iphone (iBike) and one for android.  I can't remember the name of the android app.

The app was designed to let you track your mileage, track your trips, distance, etc.

Does anyone remember the name of it?

Thanks in advance.

I took my DT300i in today for it's first 600 mile checkup/oilchange.  I told the mechanic that the bike doesn't like to start when the engine is hot.

He said he was perplexed when another customer said the same thing and that after two days of looking at that bike he called Kymco and they told him that you shouldn't turn your bike off using the kill switch.  Turn it off using only the key.

He explained to me that turning the bike off by the kill switch vs. the key is like pressing the on button on your computer to turn it off instead of doing it properly (windows/shutdown/....).  The only way the computer shuts down on the bike completely is to turn it off using the key.

I was instructed to use either the kill switch or the key by the salesman when I picked up my new scooter and the mechanic has asked them not to do that, but that the salesmen didn't like hearing that and will continue to tell new owners that using the kill switch is just fine.  Go figure.

Just thought I'd pass this along in case any of you are having the same problem.
